Tracking Down the RSVP’s

May 2nd, 2008 @ 5:39 pm by Ms. Dahlia

The due date for guest responses to our wedding was May 1 (which, as you all probably know, was yesterday). We received 2 more responses in the mail today, which I’ll consider on time, since they were postmarked April 30.

Anyways, we have 7 outstanding invitations remaining that are for a total of 17 people. (This includes a family of 5, where the mother is a reader, the father is our videographer and one of the daughters is our soloist. We know they’re coming, but don’t know whether they want vegetarian or chicken.) Still, that isn’t too shabby, given that we sent out 121 invitations to invite 227 people. That’s a response rate of 94%, which is pretty darn good.

Now begins the task of calling those who did not RSVP, and finding out what their intentions are- hopefully, it’ll be taken care of by the end of the weekend.

How many of your guests have you had to track down after the RSVP deadline?

You lucky thing! My RSVP date was April 30th. We mailed about 150 invitations to about 305 people. There are still 19 out there (we got a few yesterday and today), corresponding with 34 people. It’s like RSVPing is optional! Good luck finding yours…

Our response due date isn’t for another month, but I’m already having angst because my mom just informed me that her invitation hasn’t arrived but my sister’s did — they live at the same address! If the invitations aren’t arriving in a timely fashion, I don’t know what to expect for RSVPs. Can’t be a good sign.

Our RSVPs aren’t due until May 5th, but I’m anticipating having to track down nearly half :\ SO annoying!

We had a couple weeks budgeted to track down RSVPs and got about 98% by the time we expected. But about a week before the wedding I think about 5% ended up canceling for one reason or anything. And we found out some guests decided to add last minute dates. So it’s not final ’til it’s final!

Ohhh my god, by our date, we had THIRTY FIVE people who hadn’t responded. It’s over a week later, and despite phone calls upon phone calls, we still have one person who just REFUSES to respond. I could just die.

Let me say that RSVPs was the 2nd to worse thing we had to deal with. We gave guests 3 weeks to RSVP, by the time our RSVP date came and went, we had almost 90 RSVPs that were not received (more than 50%; we sent 170 invitations). Let’s just say bridezilla was out and on a mission! It is now less than 3 weeks before our wedding and we still have not received more than 20 RSVPs. We have done the calling, so we know for the most part who will and won’t be going but this has certainly been the most stressful part of the wedding. We’re putting out a couple extra TABLES, just in case those who didn’t verbally or physically RSVP decide to show up. ARGGGGGGGG!!

Getting people to RSVP is one of the hardest things in planning a wedding. You’re on the right track and I wouldn’t stress if I were you. I would call to follow up with those that have not RSVP’d anyway. I had to do that with almost 20 people. If the time comes to give your final guest count to catering or the venue and you still haven’t heard back from everyone I would suggest adding 5-7 people to the final count just to be sure. I had a few tell me they weren’t coming and came anyway. I also had a few who weren’t invited…hmmm…friends do that. Good luck with everything. It’ll be just fine! Congratulations!
