Lip Love: L’Oreal Infallible

May 5th, 2008 @ 3:25 pm by Mrs. Flamingo

If there is one thing I dislike, it’s applying and reapplying lip gloss or lipstick. On a day to day basis I can deal, but on the most important day of my life… I don’t want to waste time reapplying. Our photographer will be taking shots here and there when I least expect it, and my lips need to look beautiful at all times.

I heard through the grapevine that there was one gloss that was the bomb-diggity. I needed to test it out for myself, so this weekend I went to the pharmacy/drugstore to buy L’Oreal Infaillible never fail lip gloss. I was pleasantly surprised - it worked and I liked it!

The name says it all - it never fails to come off. I put it on in the morning, and after lunch I still had it on. Not as much as I had when I first put it on… but my lips were still shining.

Because this is a new product there are only 8 shades available, but because it’s a gloss, there is a transparent sheen resulting in a more natural look.

This is a lip gloss, so there is still the sticky feeling when you are wearing it. I personally like that sticky feeling because it feels like I still have some on, though Mr. Flamingo isn’t too fond of it.

For those who don’t like lip gloss there is the lipstick version, L’Oreal Infaillible never fail lip color, that comes with a built in mirror. I heard it was awesome too, but I haven’t tried it yet. It’s the next thing on my list.

What lipstick/lip gloss are you wearing for the big day? Is it the long lasting type?

I’ve tried the Infallible Lip Color and it really does not come off, even when you want it to come off. You practically have to scrape it off of your lips if you don’t have any eye makeup remover handy to remove it with (which I think is what they tell you to use, or something similar). When the glossy coat wears off, though, your lips feel ultra dry. You still have the color, though, which I guess is what matters. And the glossy coat is much easier to reapply, obviously, than the actual color.

I don’t think I could bring myself to buy it purely because they chose to call it both ‘Infallible’ AND ‘never fail’ … erm, what does infallible mean?

I don’t know what I’m going to do about lip color (maybe I’ll try this) b/c I never wear lipcolor and FH hates the feeling of stuff on my lips. I don’t want to tell him to deal on our wedding, that just doesn’t seem right.

Okay, I’ve tried allllll of the other ones (Outlast, etc.) and of those- only MAC’s pro version passed muster. But the colors didn’t end up working for my pale face.

I am going to try this one! “Sangria” looks right up my alley.

i love my lorac lip stain in sheer magic…then i put a bit of lipstick over it or just some sheer gloss. it’s really great! and lasts forever. very natural look. in fact, the only make-up product i use.

I’m using a lip color by a company called senegence. It’s great and lasts until you take it off but it doesn’t make your lips feel dry. I hate that. And there’s another that I just tried by Vincent Longo.. its nice but gives that dry feeling.

No, it is “Infallible” not “Infaillable”. Haha, you were right the first time. =) I am not much of a lipstick or lip gloss person, just in that I never wear it. But I will have to try this lip gloss and see if it’ll work for me! Thanks for the review on it!!

I’ve basically given up on all lip-coloring products b/c I’m always biting and rubbing my lips together and nothing seems to be able to withstand my spazzy lip habits.

If I need my lips to look better than usual– say for a paarty, I’ll bite them repeatedly in the car on the way there and then apply some Blistex or Labello. And yes, I get strange looks from passing cars… ;)

On a side note, was anyone else freaked out for a second by that lip-plumper ad that appeared at the top of this page? Holy whale-lips, Angelina!

Oh I have the lipstick version of the Infallible! It’s pretty great and it comes with this special lip balm thing so your lips don’t dry out. It does work, even after eating and kissing.

HOWEVER, I do have to say that I basically have to wipe off almost all of the lipcolor on the wand off on the edge before applying, until there’s just a very thin smudge of color. It makes the application process cleaner and I think the color looks better on my lips.

the positive about the infallible lipstick version is it really won’t come off without make up remover. in fact it says so on the container that the only way it will come off is with make up remover.

the negative is depending on how prone your lips are to becoming dry, the lipstick will dry out your lips. i tried to put gloss on first, but that doesn’t work. i just had to make sure i kept putting the gloss on to keep my lips from drying out. but the gloss is easy to put on even without the mirror. if you applied the lipstick the way you want it at first, you won’t have to worry about it at all later.

but it does look stay on through everything so my husband likes it for that reason becuase then i don’t freak out and go “omg i have to check my lipstick” heh.

oh if you want the lipstick version to come off and you do’nt have any makeup remover handy, you just have to apply chapstick. it starts melting off.. learned that the hard way

i just bought the gloss version (well the only available here in italy). it is called something like “glam shine 6h” promising a 6 hours lasting.
some color truly remains there after six hours but i guess reapplying can make it look the best through the whole day.
Just hope Fi will kiss me even if i look a little sticky!
