Trying to plan a wedding in a new city, not to mention a new country, is tough, but the fact that we can get legally married here more than makes up for it! The wedding will be an opportunity for most of our family and friends to see our new city for the first time so it will be both a wedding and a reunion. Besides my future wife, I am also madly in love with a good bargain, Swedish pastries, Tivo, and my two dogs and calico cat (in no particular order).

About Miss Gingerbread

Three department stores, three outlet mall stores, and two speciality lingerie stores later, I finally found success! Let me share what I’ve learned with you - there aren’t a lot of bustiers out there. None of the department stores or outlet mall stores that I went to had any. I had more success at the speciality lingerie shops.

The first one I tried on was the Piege Bustier. I had to go up in the band size for this one. It was nice, but more than I wanted to spend. I decided to try to find it online and had the hardest time until I realized that Piege and Felina are the same brand. Here’s the bra at a reduce price online. The price is great for Americans, since there’s free shipping. Unfortunately, it really adds up for Canadians, but buying online should still save you somewhere in the neighbourhood of $50 even when you add duties and taxes.

I was antsy and wanted to hurry up and find a bra so I hit up another lingerie shop Sunday and was introduced to the Jezebel Caress Bustier. This one was $45 less than the Piege/Felina bra that I’d seen before. The bra was actually true to size and they had the colour that I wanted, so I scooped it up.

If you have time to spare, you’ll probably be able to score a good deal online, but I was too impatient to wait. Now that I have the bra, I can get my alterations! I’m still looking for a place, so if you have any Vancouver recommendations, please let me know!

By the way, I just found this website, Her Room, that might be useful to you since it provides customer reviews by bra size, as well as additional measurement information.

Where did you find your undergarments?

I was going to get the Wonderbra 100 Way bra but thanks to a recommendation on Weddingbee I’ve ordered the Flattering Me longline bra instead. I’m waiting for it to arrive now.

To any Colorado Bees, I would highly recommend Sol in Cherry Creek. Their fittings are unsurpassed, and they have a wonderful selection!

I *love* Her Room — very nice custome service and excellent selection. I got the Jezebel longline bra but my seamstress took it to sew into my gown…so I have to go buy another one for all my other formalwear!

I got the Jezebel one at barenecessities.com. I’ve gotten lots of underwear and bras there. Great selection, cheap shipping and good sales.

I got the Dominique longline from http://barenecessities.com . It came yesterday and it fits perfectly! It’s really pretty, too, which is a bonus.

Surprisingly I ended up finding a bra at Target of all places that worked the best. I think it was from Gillian O’Malley and it was less than $20!

Hey Miss GB, just wondering where you went shopping in Vancouver for your bustier? I’m going to need one soon enough, and have no idea where to start!

@echo: I went to Holt Renfrew and the Bay, but they didn’t have any bustiers. Then I went to La Jolie Madame in the Pacific Centre where I found the Piege bustier. I ended up buying the Jezebel from Diane’s Lingerie on Granville: http://www.dianeslingerie.com/

i’ve been feeling pretty discouraged lately in the world of bustiers. none of the department stores i went to had any that held my noggins up, and victoria’s secret suggested stick-on gel pads, like that would do the trick. le sigh. why must tatas be so complicated?

Hi there!
Would you believe I went into the Victorias Secret by my house and asked to see the bustiers. And they had no idea what a bustier was? WEIRD! (of course I do live in miami so something may have been lost in translation)

The first one — Piege/Felina(?) — looks exactly like the one I got from Victoria’s Secret…not sure if they have it anymore, but I ordered online and found it in the “Wedding” section. (Haven’t ordered in a while, so I’m not sure if the site’s still organized that way.)

And also like Miss GB mentioned, hoo, that sucker’s kinda tight! But I guess that’s the nature of the thing - makes you suck it all in and pushes everything else all up to the top!
