See my dress! See my dress!
It’s close to finished! I’m impressed!
I’ve been dying to be trying
on my gown and now success!
Dance around, spin and twirl,
I am such a lucky girl,
So exciting for a bride
To show her outfit off with pride.
Creamy Silk! Old French Lace!
Gives Miss Hummingbird some grace!
How could anyone be tired and stressed?
It has been so much fun!
And it is so close to done!
See my dress! See my dress! See my dress!
My sincere apologies to Disney/Alan Menken and Howard Ashman whose song I ripped off for the above ditty, but after my fitting this weekend, I am seriously stoked about the way things are going with my dress. I have a bit of a dress update backlog in that I’m actually blogging about my last two fittings in this post, but I figured it would be good to see the changes between fittings.
Since we’d been working in broadcloth for my first two fittings, it was time I tried on my actual dress fabric.
Fitting # 3: The first version of the silk layer.

Mmmm . . . silky goodness!
While I loved the feel of the silk and was excited to be able to try on part of the final product, I realized when I compared pictures of my second and third fittings that I looked a little boxy and the neckline change we had talked about doing was a bit more drastic than I had wanted. So, I talked to Allison about it in my vague, non sewing way and I have begun to suspect that she’s psychic, because when I went for my most recent fitting, the shape was awesome and almost exactly what I had in my head.
Fitting #4: The second version of the silk layer

The new version of my dress (with a little bit of lace pinned to it so I could see the texture).
Seeing it like this was totally exciting since I could totally picture the finished dress and how I’d look walking down the aisle in it. I honestly couldn’t stop laughing and smiling while I was wearing it, it was so awesome.
Anyway, in a couple of weeks, I will go back and try on the fully laced version, so I will update again then, but this is where we were as of Sunday. What do you think? ![]()
