Help Me Choose A Shoe!

May 8th, 2008 @ 6:23 pm by Mrs. Donut

It’s just over two weeks to the wedding and my girls still don’t have shoes! We all live in different towns, which has made a trip to the mall for some serious girl time and shoe shopping impossible. I’ve told them both to wear whatever they like so long as it’s roughly in the same color family, but I’m starting getting the impression that they would rather I pick it out myself or, at the very least, get my OK. So, after a few hours on the internet doing some serious searching, I present you with the options.

Shoe number one is a sassy little number by Charles David. “Spice” is a champagne satin shoe with a cute little bow at the vamp.

Shoes number two and three are actually the same shoe, just in different colors. I think the gold goes better with the dress. My girls think silver is a better choice. I’ll let you decide. Either way Nine West’s Accolia is one seriously sexy shoe.

And finally we have Shameless from Chinese Laundry in an almost too bridal for a bridesmaid ivory.

Now, the girls’ dresses are from Dessy After Six. They are light green silk with an ivory chiffon overly. The chiffon softens the green and gives the dress a kind of dreamy vintage etherealness that is exactly what I was going for. I think it’s a perfect for our high noon spring wedding.

So which one would you choose?

I went for shoe 2, which is strange, since I don’t normally like gold shoes.

I think you’re right though - I think it goes best with the dress.

I have shoe #2 in black that I bought for a wedding I was in and ended up not wearing them. They were a little difficult to walk in - maybe that was just me, but thought I’d put that out there. Although they look really hot on!!

I have the silver Nine West shoes and will extremely cute… not so comfortable. There is absolutely NO cushioning on the ball of your feet. At first, they are great, roomy, comfortable straps… but then… it just feels like you’re walking around on the balls of your bare feet on concrete. Get some cushions if you get those!

I voted for #3, but they all look pretty painful to me :(

I vote for #1!

I have shoe #2 the Ninewest one. They are super cute but not so great as far as comfort and wearabilty…is that a word???? The heel strap stretches and they constantly slip off…they are also kinda awkward to walk in. Just and FYI.

@lou: Ditto! I don’t normally like gold either but I think in this case they go best :)

i have shoe #2 in the gold and i love it! i went and got some dr. scholl inserts for heels and it gave me great cushioning for the balls of my feet. pp are right, they’re not so comfortable without them. also, make sure that your girls get them in sizes that really fit them because the back strap can be a bit loose otherwise.

they’re a hot pair of shoes and your girls will love wearing them after the event!

I have the nine west shoes in black and I love them!! I get compliments on them everytime I wear them and they make my feet feel sexy lol!

Linda says:

I loved for shoe #1 since it looks almost like the shoe on the model!

MM says:

i chose shoe #1 cuz it’s soooo cute, but i love #2 too. I have it in gold too and theyre super comfy!

TX Bride says:

i love both 2 and 3 (but prefer the gold) — but i’m biased…I wore it in white for my wedding!

lynn says:

i also have #2 in gold and are by far one of my favorite and most worn shoes! I can wear them with everything. I bought them for a banquet and use them both casually and for formals. I think they are quite comfy without the pads… but whatever works!

speaking from experience:

we (BMs) wore a similar color (if not the exact same) BM dress for my gf’s wedding. go for the gold. it’s so much cuter. and a note about the nine west shoes you picked (again, from my own experience; i have the silver pair), although they are oh-so-cute, the back strap doesn’t stay on. therefore you’re left readjusting the strap throughout the night (i eventually took them off because they were annoying); not to mention the possibility of tripping (i was so paranoid walking down the aisle with those on). hope that helps…

ecochicbride says:

Don’t have them wear the Nine West shoes, they will complain on how they hurt their feet and you don’t want that. I think the first one will match it the most and probably more comfortable than the Nine West shoe, I have a pair of the silvers and they kill my feet everytime I wore them. You want Happy BM feet!

16.
lou says:

Ooh, just realised the Nine West ones are slingbacks. I HATE slingbacks - I can never get them to stay on.

If you do go for them, I think a strip of ‘fashion tape’ on the heel helps.

sept08bride says:

I really like No. 4 because it looks more sophisticated and softer which should go well with your “dreamy vintage etherealness” :)
Exactly what i want in my wedding with a little vampiness..lol

MrsJones says:

I got the Nine West in silver for myself and gold for my MOH. I think they are more wearable than the other 2 which look quite ‘wedding like’. I also bought those foot petals so hopefully they won’t be so painful.
BTW my MOH is wearing the same green dress from Dessy, and I think either the silver or gold go, the only reason I went with gold was because she would wear gold again, not silver.

I have the Nine West Accolia in the gold. They are very pretty but like the others have said, they are not comfortable, especially if you’re going to be on your feet for more than a few hours. If you decide to go with them, please please get some gels inserts or some kind of cushioning. I wore them out on a bachelorette party in miami and by 11 at night (we started dinner at 7), my feet were begging me to go home. Please be comfy on your wedding day! :)

kimberly says:

Because the dresses have an ivory overlay, I think shoe #2 would look best with the dress. But I do want to also let you know that I was a bridesmaid for my friend’s wedding last year and another BM had purchased shoe #2 in brown. She ended up limping in pain during the reception because they hurt so much!

21.
mrswhitetobe says:

regardless of the shoes, get foot petals! they absorb shock and you can’t see ‘em!

22.
sweeTPea says:

I have the Nine Wests in Gold also. And they are pretty squishy in the front for me (although I do have wide feet!). The straps do keep falling off though too. It’s very pretty nevertheless.

busylizzy says:

I like number 1!

24.
ynichole says:

While I like the look of the Nine West shoes the best, they are terrible. The strap around your heel will be slipping off the entire day.

25.
Kelly says:

I don’t recommend a shoe with an ankle strap (#1 & #4) - especially with a short dress. The ankle strap cuts off the leg & normally makes your leg look short (and stumpy). Its just not very flattering unless you’re Heidi Klum and have the legs to pull it off.

26.
formula323 says:

the accolias are SUPER uncomfortable!

27.
liz says:

i wore those nine west shoes as a bridesmaid last year and they were the most uncomfortable terrible shoes i have ever owned (and i wear stilettos all the time with no problem). the 2 other bridesmaids who wore the same shoes had the same problem. they were torture.

28.
bellydancingbride says:

I’ll admit I have a fetish for Ninewest shoes and I love the line that the accolias give the leg. A shoe with a strap (as someone else pointed out) will cut off the leg at the ankle and gives a bit of a stumpy look.
