Let’s Hear it For the Boys!

May 9th, 2008 @ 4:46 pm by Miss Pineapple

Since the ladies will be wearing all black, I will be in champagne, and Mr. Pineapple will be in black, he and I thought black for the groomsmen’s suits would be too much dark. So, we decided on gray. In keeping with the different dresses for the bridesmaids we will have the boys wear any gray suit they would like, a look such as this:

I prefer the light gray, but it really is neither here nor there.

Our wedding colors still had not come into play with the attire at this point (other than my gown). So in order to incorporate a bit of copper and champagne we decided to buy ties for all the men. Again, they are all in the same color family, but different.

Mr. Pineapple will be wearing the solid copper tie on the right. We got a great deal on these ties at Macy’s. We dropped in to check out the selection after attending a fairly traumatic bridal show and lo and behold there they were, job done.

Has anyone else left this much up to chance as far as attire is concerned? How did it go?

Just wanted to say that I love the ties! We’ll have to hit up Macy’s the next time we’re in the States.

Wow, let me know if you find any grey suits for rent! I got married about a month and a half ago and my groom was dead-set on a light grey suit, and absolutely NOBODY rented them. And since we waited until about 2 months before to seriously start looking, we ended up having to buy suits for them, which was much more than we’d budgeted. So, keep that in mind! Hopefully you’ll find some great options ;)

Have you asked your groomsmen whether they already own grey suits, vs. black? I’m not sure which is more common for men, but if it turns out they don’t all have grey but DO all have black, I don’t think black would be “too much” at all….

We had the boys wear their own black suits, and then bought them matching ties and shirts as their gift. It turned out great — the shirts and ties pulled things together, and who notices the exact shade or cut of a black suit??

all but one already own a gray suit of some sort and the one who doesn’t was planning on purchasing one anyhow, so we should be in good shape.

I’ve always thought it a bit strange, not ugly - but strange, that the groom matched his fellas. I particularly like the idea of the groom standing out, like the bride does. Since all the ladies dresses will be different, I don’t care one bit if the shades are all way off and the buttons all differ.

We’re looking to rent grey tuxes, but we haven’t had much luck finding anywhere that rents them for a decent price. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!
