Practice Makes Perfect

May 9th, 2008 @ 6:10 pm by Miss Canary

After finding the perfect underwear, I had an excuse to try on my gown again. Not that there’s ever not a good excuse… but my gown had just been hanging out for the past 10 months hidden away in my closet. I had not tried it since I first got it. Mr. Canary was also out for an all-night concert so there would be no chance that he’d happen upon me in the gown.

I was nervous because I was worried about having buyer’s remorse, but when I finally got it on (it is not easy pulling on a corseted gown by yourself!) I felt like a bride and fell in love with it all over again. I marveled at the perfect shade of ivory and the sash color (which I was also subconsciously worried that I would hate). With just a little over two months to go until the wedding, I felt the excitement start to really bubble while I was in the gown.

Also, I got to think about some logistics about getting in and out of the dress. The back is corseted and thus there is no zipper for easy in-and-out access, so when I change into my qipao, one of my bridesmaids will have to just undo the entire corset instead of just loosening it up. I just hope it won’t become a Carrie and Miranda wedding gown incident! Mama Canary thought it was pretty hilarious that I could get into the dress by myself but not out of it!

How many times have you tried on your wedding gown? Do you love it more every time?

That is one of the upsides of buying a sample. My dress has been in my mom’s closet since August! I try it on whenever I buy something new for the outfit- the veil, hairpiece, shoes, etc. or when I start getting sad that my wedding is still soooo far away. I do love it more every time that I slide into it.

I loved Aidan, too :) I was heartbroken when I saw him with the baby- that sealed the deal for those two!

I clicked on the link to your gown to look at it again. How lovely!
