About candycorn

These are a few of my favorite things that we’ll be fitting into our theme of birds (or eggs and nests) into our wedding day:

An Ann Wood cake topper (she added a veil and top hat, I just need to take a new photo):

Bird stamps used to decorate our STDs, which I just spotted at Barnes & Noble the other day:

Robin’s egg soaps from Gianna Rose Atelier for the bathrooms:

Crow cufflinks (by artist Rain Harris) for Mr. Candy Corn, which were purchased at Art Star in Philadelphia.

A bag of speckled eggs from Smith & Hawken. I haven’t figured out what to do with them quite yet, but I thought it might be nice to arrange them like in the photo below to decorate some of the less-exciting table space (I’ll post about our centerpieces soon I swear!)

Birdseed eggs to hang off of two faux manzanita trees (a set of 12 eggs), which will be placed on opposite ends of our place card table. Both are from Smith & Hawken:

Our love nest soap favors available at Little Things Favors:

That sums it up for now. Does anyone have any suggestions for some creative, affordable ways to incorporate even more birds into our wedding, or do you think we might be overdoing if we add anything else? Thanks for your feedback!

Martha Stewart has bird favor boxes
http://www.marthastewart.com/portal/site/mslo/menuitem.3a0656639de62ad593598e10d373a0a0/?vgnextoid=2da271798ed83110VgnVCM1000003d370a0aRCRD&rsc=also_try_p3

Maybe someone else has the link but Martha Stewart (of course) also has a design with name cards that are shaped like birds and perch on your glasses. Very cute, sorry couldn’t find that pic….

I definitely don’t think you’re overdoing it! I wish I had some sort of fun theme to tie in. Also, nothing that you have shown us is very big, they’re all pretty small touches. Just don’t wear a bird costume and I think you’ll be alright ;-)

I love birds. There is no such thing as too many birds ;)
Here is a cute thing I was going to do for my wedding but totally dropped the ball on:
http://www.branchhome.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=30&products_id=311&zenid=q8luc84v66dfaostj7057nkse4
(We were going to buy felt and make our own in our own colors.)
Also, this girl has the most amazing little birdie corsages/boutineers:
http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5079277
And a feather headpiece or birdcage veil could be another way to sneak birds in ;)
Yay for birds!

We are also doing a lovebird theme! For our cake topper, I bought these really cute bird salt and pepper shakers at Target for $5, and our baker is going to nest them on a bed of flowers.

Other ideas…Um? Maybe your first dance? We are doing “Songbird” by Eva Cassidy for ours.

Thanks! I actually ordered the last stock of faux manzanita from Smith & Hawken, but you should check out http://www.nettletonhollow.com because they have beaaaaaaaautiful branches there that make me pine for them (lame pun intended).

Cute! I love Art Star. This is a good theme to have as it seems there are lots of birds and egg thingies around these days. Did you see the bird’s-nest ring pillows on etsy? I think the seller’s name is easter yu.

How are you anchoring the manzanita branches? In a cylinder vase?

@elizabeth:
ooooo I love that idea, thanks!

@design-phan:
Are you design-phan, as in this design-phan?: http://design-phan.squarespace.com/

If so, I heart you even more! Mmmm I saw those ring pillows on Etsy but decided against doing a ring pillow at all with Mr. Candy Corn. Those are so cute though mm.

I plan to buy cylinder vases and put stones in them or something to weigh it down…any fantabulous suggestions? :)

Yes, that’s me! I’ve been ignoring my blogging duties of late. Blame it on a new obsession with wedding planning :).

Love the cake topper and the bird theme entirely! Those cufflinks are great! Art Star is a terrific resource and one of my fave local spots. Also, from yesterday, I LOVE your location. That museum is amazing and the courtyard is gorgeous. Your wedding will be so special there. I am a fall 2008 bride too, I forgot to mention!

How about a little nest as a ring pillow?

@Mrs. Lovebug:

That’s what I was originally planning to do, but Mr. CC would have to choose between his two little brothers for the ring bearer and he doesn’t want to pick one and not the other and hurt their feelings. I suggested we have two little nests and they can each carry one of the rings, but he’d rather have his brother (best man) stash them in his pocket and avoid the ring-bearer thing all together…that was just one of those situations where I shrugged and decided to move on and obsess elsewhere hehe :)

@Miss Candy Corn: & @Miss Cookie: We are also thinking of doing a bird theme, but I little more modern… I was thinking of putting birds on my flower centerpieces.

We purchased a LARGE grapevine wreath from a craft store for $12 and put it around the base of our wedding cake to tie in with our bird theme… we had nests with light blue peanut m&ms at every place setting so it really tied in with those. Our florist helped out by weaving leaves, flower buds and pods into the large wreath. It really added a rustic feel to our cake table. Subtle things will add up to perfection, good luck!!!

Paper on Pine has a cute guest book with a bird design on the cover you might like- it’s a light blue and tan book. It’s by Pepper Pot and $22. (I just got it for our wedding, which has some minor birdie themage)
