Cheating

May 10th, 2008 @ 3:03 pm by Mrs. Penguin

Mr. Penguin and I bought our wedding rings last weekend while in Minnesota…we took advantage of the lower sales tax out there, which was nice (Cha-CHING!).  Mr. Penguin’s ring has to be made, but I was able to bring mine home that very day!

Rather than put it in our luggage on the plane, I wore it, because clearly, this was the safest way to transport it home.

…then I didn’t take it off for two days. I grew attached to it. I loved that I looked all married and stuff. I went to the drug store this morning to pick up my…um…Lady Meds, and while swiping my credit card for the nice pharmacist, I waved my engagement/wedding ring combo around REALLY flashy-like, as if to say “Yeah, thats right sir, it’s called FAMILY PLANNING now. Don’t mistake me for some kind of promiscuous hussy. I’m MARRIED.”

It felt good. And I didn’t feel promiscuous, nor like a hussy, at all.

Then I had to take a shower so I took it off and tucked it away in its box, not to be taken out again until the wedding. Well, it was fun while it lasted.

..and yes. If you were paying attention, it had been 2 days since Miss Penguin took a shower. That’s how I roll. Stinky style.

Did you take your wedding ring for a test drive before you got married?

My jeweler is a family friend, so she let me test drive a couple of styles for a couple of days to figure out what I liked best. I loved waving that combo around too! And I found that it was really helpful in figuring out what I liked best everyday (vs. in the store.) Too bad we have to wait. My fiance had to hide mine so I wouldn’t keep trying it on.

ha. this is so funny. i did the same thing but i wore mine without the engagement ring.

my fiancee did not like it. he though it was cheating and i should wait, but i love it so much. i like it better than wearing my e ring because i don’t have to take it off in the shower to sleep or anything its so comfortable.

i can’t wait till the wedding.

i just put it away for good a few days ago. i hope i am not temped anymore.

Very cute post. I laughed out loud and had to explain to my hubby why I was laughing, and then had to admit that I still read weddingbee 8 months after we’ve been married.

Yes, I cheated too and wore my band. AND, I’ve gone longer than 2 days without showering. Its amazing I found somoeone who digs my stank. word.

We wore ours to dinner that very night (ironically, the dinner we went to was at a place we were looking at for the rehearsal dinner!)

When we got home it was hard to say goodbye, but I still snuck looks at it and showed all my friends when they came over :D

Haha, the day we picked up ours from our jeweler in SF, we wore them around town for the day. We valeted our car and there was no way I was going to leave them in there, of course they were much safer on our fingers. It was a fun day, can’t wait for the wedding!

I kept taking my wedding band for a test run, but my fiance thought it was bad juju to wear it before the wedding too.

So now its tucked away in a safety deposit box and away from my grubby hands!

We did the same thing :) We wore them for a while weekend, actually. It was good, too, because my FI decided to change styles.

Your set looks so pretty together. I love the knife edge on your e-ring.
We haven’t ordered our rings yet, but I can almost guarantee that ‘ll be cheating up a storm once we get them.

I love your set! Is there a particular order you are supposed to wear the rings together? My MIL told me the Engagement Ring is first and then the wedding band.

I was only able to wear my ring for about 3 hours before FI hid it away from me. I miss it! Thankfully, I don’t have much longer to go before I can wear it.

@Shelbystar: I had to ask the salesman :) So apparently its wedding ring “closest to your heart”…that means wedding ring first, then engagement ring (Like I’m wearing it in the pic).

I’m totally cracking up at your admission of lax showering.

not long after we made our wedding rings (may I plug http://www.thedevilsworkshop.ca to Toronto brides?) I got the flu and stayed home for a week. I took that opportunity to wear my wedding ring all day. I did not, however, go out wearing it. You brazen hussy :P ;)

We wore our wedding rings as engagement rings on the opposite hand and just switched them over when we got married. I didn’t want a ‘real’ engagement ring, so it worked out perfectly for us. :)

Yes, we did…it was only a 45 minute drive home, but we were enjoying it the whole time.

Yes , but for mean time, because i had to know if its fit on our finger but after a while we put it back and only wear it on our wedding day.

we just designed and ordered ours over the weekend…mine had to be made to fit against my e-ring…I cannot wait to wear it and I know I’ll be trying it on constantly. My fiancee is uber-excited to have his too so I imagine we’ll probably pretend for at least one dinner date :)
