Last Round, I Promise

May 12th, 2008 @ 4:01 pm by Mrs. Milkshake

My original plan for the BM dresses were damask b&w prints, and I haven’t really found anything I’ve liked so far. So these are my final choices for dresses. Here are two that are pretty decent. I have one word: pockets!
Maggy London Square Neck Dress

whitehouseblackmarket

I saw this dress, below, in person yesterday at Anthropologie, and I think this dress is very promising. We can swap out the sash for any fabulous fabric option.
anthro Charcoal Drawing Dress $148

This turquoise dress is super cute but I don’t know if it would be a bit much to have three matching girls…..Maggy London Sateen Party Dress $118

3 dressesaa

So enter the striped option - either 3 striped dresses, or a combination of the striped and the turquoise one. Both dresses have fabulous skirts on them.

Which is your favorite?

I’m liking the turquoise with the 2 striped. Where did you find all these lovely dresses?

I love, love, love the striped dress! It’s elegant and fun, and if you’re hoping your girls can wear their dresses again, this is a great option. My only concern with the striped dress is if the girls hips or bottoms are a little bit bigger, the stripes may make them look a little on the big side.

I want all of these dresses!! Great choices!

I like the Anthropologie dress the best. I’m not really feeling the striped dress.

I love the one with the green/any color sash. I think that is gorgeous and not too overwhelming!

I love the Anthropologie dress with the Green Sash. Super cute and very re-wearable.

I’ll second shi! While I absolutely love the striped dress, I think perhaps it’s a bit too loud. Plus, it sorta seems like the black and white Anthropologie is more what you were looking for in the beginning.

I’d worry that the pattern of the first dress would dominate photos.

My favorite combination is the two turquoise

The Anthropologie dress! I love it! If you really like turquiose, the Anthropologie dress would look very nice with that color sash.

Love the Anthropologie dress as well as the striped one. I think out of those two, you should go with which ever one suits your wedding better. The striped one is a lot more modern, and the Anthropologie one would be a bit more classic.

I really like the three matching blue dress. Very fresh and summery and totally re-wearable.

turquoise!

not really a fan of the stripes - they would only look good if all your girls are VERY thin, with no curves

The Anthropologie get my vote, with the idea to have a turquoise sash to incorporate that element, while keeping the black and white theme. The turquoise dress and striped variation seem a bit too casual.

I like the one with the green sash. The others just don’t feel “wedding” enough somehow….but they are all very pretty!

With your dress - the Antropologie one all the way. However, I do like the striped, just not with your reception site and dress in mind.

I own the Anthropologie dress. It is comfy, cute and flattering. Plus, I love the pockets:) This dress has them too!

The second from the top is my favorite, with a sash to replace the belt.

I worry that the turquoise one is going to be VERY unkind to anyone who suffers from what I now know is called “vag arms” (thanks Miss Cookie!), not to mention any small amount of back fat. Those sleeves are tough to pull off and even the model has a little overhang, if you look closely.

Definitely Anthropologie!
And I agree, the others don’t feel wedding enough. I would wear any of the others to the office.

My favorites are the third one (from Anthropologie) and the black & teal striped. I think both would look great as BM dresses!

Good luck picking one!

the anthro one or striped one, but i agree that the striped on would only look best on girls with very small curves.

Having tried on the first and the colorblocked dress (assuming these are the ones from Nordstrom), FYI they run pretty small. I am a pear-shaped girl but pretty small on top, and I had to go two sizes above my norm before I could get the tops zipped. If your ‘maids are top-heavy, I doubt these’ll fit them.

The first dress! The anthropologie one is cute, but your girls might balk at paying $280 for a sundress. The turquoise one is a little loud and 80’s for me.

Anthropologie– no question. The others don’t look like they would be flattering on everyone.

the Anthropologie dress for sure - so refined and charming. not as loud as the turquoise, which is a fab shape, but not a super-flattering cut, unless you are thin, thin, thin.

Definitely definitely the Anthro dress! Although I love the punch of the striped dresses, I think it’s just too much.

ha! I wanted bw damask too.. and was just in Anthrpologie on Saturday and saw that dress. I was so tempted to get two for my bridesmaids, but realized they already have their dresses (a black dress of their choice). Still… ah!

I like either the first one or the third one (green sash). I think you’re right in that the torqouise one would be a bit much on 3 girls standing next to each other.

Love the anthropologie dress, for whatever reason the stripes seem a little harsh or loud for a wedding. The anthropologie is definately ‘prettier’.

I am in the minority here. I think that the Anthropologie dress is a little busy with the flower pattern and the sash. I think the sash takes away from the pattern, especially if its a bright color like green or turquoise. When I look at the dress I don’t know where look first. I think you need a dress that has one focal point not two. I like the first one and the striped dress.

Stripes! And they’d be fine on curvy girls, as long as they’re proportional or top-heavy. Bottom-heavy girls would possibly want to murder you :P

I’m a huge fan of Anthropologie for EVERYTHING! I really think your girls can wear that dress over and over again and no one will give them weird looks for wearing a bridesmaid dress.

I like the combination of the turquoise and striped dresses. The turquoise only dress is a bit too much on its own. Nice cut though.

I think it would be cool to have one of each (turquoise, striped and Anthropologie with turquoise sash). Depending, of course, on what your ‘maids think about them.

I stumbled across your post by accident, and am so glad I did! I’ve been looking for a cute sundress to wear to our rehearsal dinner. After reading this, I literally went straight to Anthropologie and bought the dress with the green sash! It is very easy to fit (due to the smocking in the back) and will tie in perfectly with my garden theme wedding next month. Beware: I tried on a few different sizes and the zipper on every dress had to be unstuck by the manager. It seems to be somewhat flimsy. If you go with this one, your girls would probably have to have it replaced or be very careful to avoid having problems on your big day.
