About Mrs. Pineapple

Our Dream Registry

May 12th, 2008 @ 3:29 pm by Mrs. Pineapple

Mr. Pineapple and I almost started our registry one day, but then we decided to go home and take a nap instead.

So, while we will probably do something uber unique and register at Target and Macy’s, I do have an alternate “dream registry” floating around in my head. On this registry are things you can’t really ask someone to buy for you or cannot have a guest buy at a chain (online or real life).

Case in Point, Item 1:

{ image }
A PUPPY!
particularly a mini schnauzer or Mr. Pineapple would like to have his 15 year old jack russell cloned

Item 2:

{ image }
A Rachel Denny cable knit deer head

Item 3:

{ image }
Brake Rotors
(They are pretty essential to making your car stop, mine are warped and rusted. It would be super nice to stop at a traffic light without my car shaking violently for 100 yards first.)

Item 4:

{ image }
A Tulip Farm!

Item 5:

{ image }
A cooking class with Alton Brown, for Mr. Pineapple

Item 6:

{ image 1, 2, 3 }
Season tickets to either the Pittsburgh Pirates, Penguins or Steelers (in that order) for Mr. Pineapple

Item 7:

{ image }
A fancy schmancy new camera.
Now technically I could register for this, but unfortunately none of my family members have several grand to throw at me.

What would be on your dream registry?

My fiance would be all about getting a puppy! He’d want something massive though, much to my chagrin. But putting together our registry is a project that’s far enough out that I don’t even have a solid idea of what will be on the real registry, let alone a dream one!

…Except maybe an apartment in NYC, considering we’re moving there in two months. Can I get that as an early gift? lol

What a fun registry! I will take yours and swap out the sports tickets to theater tickets (we both love theater), the cooking lessons, but for two, and add in a lifetime pass for heli-skiing for the FI and a year’s trip around the world instead of the break rotors and cable knit deer head. It would also be nice if someone would finish our home remodel. Maybe the tulip garden could blanket our yard instead of sod?

Mint-condition vintage Schwinn cruiser bikes and a super fancy mountain bike for me (he already has one). If only!

I love the Alton Brown one! He films at the Harry’s in Marietta, GA (right across the street from my work) frequently. I’ve run into the filming twice, each time I let out a giant sqeaul I’m sure production appreciated! I heart Alton :-)

@ljlkclark: haha you don’t like? I think it is brilliant. Mr. Pineapple would probably agree with you though.

@rebecca: Folks are all the buzz about the Pens these days. When someone starts a conversation with me about them I say “Oh yeah! I love basketball!” that way I don’t have to pretend I know anything about sports. For Mr. Pineapple’s sake though “LET’S GO PENS!!” indeed ;)

We did a honeymoon registry through the honeyfund, but then added “other items” such as a down comforter, a TV stand, air conditioner. for larger items we just split it up. i.e. four $100 contributions toward XXX

A remodeled top floor of our house and unlimited dog walks would top the list!

But *realistically*, it would be a joiner, planer, and custom charcoal grill for FI. I would list a serger, gas stove, and a shaded chandelier from Restoration Hardware.

I *heart* Alton Brown, too!

YES! SEASON TICKETS TO THE STEELERS! I would kill for season tickets to the Steelers for a wedding gift. And, um, plane tickets to Pittsburgh for every home game.

Truthfully, the one thing I’d really want, nobody can give us — my dream gift would be to actually reside in the same state as my husband after marriage — we’ll be living apart the first several years. :(

Oh, and regarding Pens — let’s just say that I’m a diehard Pens fan, and my fiance wears his Flyers jersey religiously. We’re getting married in less than 2 weeks, and all we have done lately is fight over hockey.

We actually have gotten 3 things off your registry! Tickets to a Steelers game, a puppy of our choice and timing and a fancy dancy new camera. I would love the knit deer head too though!

Love your registry ideas! You should get a mini schanauzer - we have an eight year old Jack Russell, and a year old Mini Schanauz, and they get along amazingly well.

I don’t know about all of those items (tulip farm and Alton Brown could be difficult), but you could at least try by registering at http://www.alternativegiftregistry.org/

We have an SLR and cooking class on our registry! The way we made it work was buy breaking it down into manageable portions… and registering via honeyfund.com

For example our SLR item reads “Portion of Canon 5D body” requested 50, price $40 each

Ooo, I’m all about the puppy! :D

I know I’d love a garden. I don’t have much of a green thumb, but I think if they were in the ground instead of at my window on top of the radiator, I’d have better luck (lol).

I think I’d also want a cool, comfy chair to sit in while I write, and a pair of those Japanese dividers so we can both have private office space if we only have one spare room. Oo oo! And a bathtub shaped like a huge seashell! :D

What a fun post! I love all your dream choices :) Makes me want to think of one of my own! I wonder what it would contain? Probably the #1 thing would be for someone to pay for me to go to the dentist!!!

I got new brake rotors recently, it’s amazing how much of a difference it makes !! And apparently much safer too, but I’m not much for car maintenance :P

Would this mod deer head be an acceptable substitute for the knitted one? It’s only $26. http://www.modcloth.com/store//Modcloth/Apartment/Cardboard+Mounted+Deer

@Go Amie: wow that’s pretty darn cool. I have a feeling our cats would love it as a scratching post though. They have a thing for cardboard.

Love this post. Our dream registry items might include (but are not limited to) an Irish wolfhound puppy, hiring Jonathan Adler to decorate our house, a trip to the Seychelles, and maid services for the next 40 years.
