Ride Wit Me*

May 12th, 2008 @ 2:32 pm by Ms. Dahlia

No limo for us on our wedding day.** Nope, we’re saving a couple of bucks, and using my dad’s sweet ride.

My Dad’s PT Cruiser Convertible, as seen by Google Street View.

If the weather cooperates (although today’s forecast says showers), we’ll head out with the roof down.

Image found here.

What is your getaway car? (And if you want to use a PT Cruiser, and happen to live in Australia, you can actually rent a PT Cruiser for your wedding here.)

*My apologies to Nelly
**My limo experience was permanently scarred by a rather unfortunate prom experience, where we had a padiddle limo, and the stereo didn’t work, the air conditioning didn’t work, it smelled a bit like cigarette smoke, and the windows would roll down but not up. In it were myself and 4 friends, along with our dates. 2 of the dates ended up putting their heads out the window and barking like a dog at passing cars.

yep.. we’re just using our regular old cars. I don’t like limos, and that’s one less thing to worry about. I have heard too many stories of limos not showing up/being really late.

Our reception was 1 mile from the church. My brother drove us in my trusty little Honda, which was well-cleaned for the occasion and was later happily defaced by the bridal party. :-D

We’re using the charter buses we’ve hired to transport guets to/from the ceremony. Best of all, they’re rented from the university where we’ll be married so they have the university logo and mascot on them! As alumni, we’re abnormaly excited by this.

My FI is a lover of muscle cars, and pretty much spends all the time he possibly can rebuilding old engines and doing all sorts of crazy manly car stuff. So our getaway car is going to be his 77 black corvette. It will be nice to get some pro pics of us in it for the wedding too.

We are using a PediCab for our 3 block get away. I hope that sucker is strong. I’m going to eat a lot of cake.

We saved money too and drove away in husband’s Mini Cooper. Made for some great photos! And I didn’t even have a poofy dress, but it tough to get all of it in there :)

We’re using a Pedicab too! Cheap and eco-friendly too!
