A Dramatic Version of You

May 13th, 2008 @ 6:41 pm by Mrs. Jasmine

The traditional American bridal look is very soft, sweet, and pretty:

The Indian bridal look, on the other hand, is much different. The Indian bridal look is actually a little sexy — think dark, smoky eyes with thick false eyelashes, rouged cheeks, and red/pink lips:

It’s very dramatic and it’s going to be a huge change for me since I don’t usually wear much makeup. But I’m excited to have a totally new look and I’m putting my faith in the fabulous Couture Beauty Bridal Service.Couture Beauty is a hair and makeup team that specializes in South Asian weddings. They know the traditional South Asian bridal look and can also help dress brides. This is huge for me since draping my bridal lehnga can be complicated and I know they’ll be able to drape it really beautifully.

What bridal look are you going for on the big day?

I love to see all the adornment of Indian brides….they look so beautiful, and so ornate and the makeup always looks flawless. I didn’t go for the light and natural look….I went the other way to dramatic and did the whole smoky eye w/ falsies and all. I’m glad I did because it ended up looking good (in the pictures I have seen so far).

I also think pictures of Indian brides are gorgeous, I love all of the colors that are involved! I want something sexy and glamorous - more Academy Awards than traditional American Bridal (seriously - 90% of my inspiration photos for dress/hair/makeup come from various red carpet events - all of the white in wedding photos can make me glaze over and get bored).

I’m totally jealous of Indian brides! I love the color, gold, and drama! But even convention aside, as a pale, pale redhead, it’s just not meant to be.

I wanted to go for a dramatic look, with bold eyes and sexy hair… but when I got back from my trials, I could tell my FI didn’t like it… at all! So it will be soft-focus, natural for me! (As a bride, I feel like I’m getting dressed “for him.” I can do the bold make up any other day for myself.)

I love the drama of the Indian bridal look. My wedding day makeup is inspired from it. Be sure to post photos when you do your trial.

gorgeous! i can’t wait to see your pics! please remember to take a before for comparison.

i’ve had to look outside the traditional american wedding industry for my makeup inspiration. i’m african american and have had little success in finding black makeup looks for a bride.

the ones i do find are very natural. and thats not me.

i wear makeup everyday and am shooting for a “daytime glam” face for my morning wedding. i’ll be getting lash extentions and will do a smokey eye with plums i believe. originally i wanted plum lipstick, but now, i just might do a soft caramel to let my eyes really steal the show…..

thanks for high lighting that there are some brides who are going for a little more than gloss and mascara on their big day! :)

I love love love the eye make up in the first Indian bridal picture. So pretty and sexy yet not overly dark. I don’t really know what I’m doing for my wedding look yet. I don’t wear much make up and I have rather short hair so don’t really have any ideas yet. I’d like to be dramatic but still look like me…

I’m definitely going dramatic. My makeup artist is playing up my pale complexion with a pop of peachy pink cheek color, and doing my eyes in 1940s style (thick black liquid eyeliner, tons of mascara), with a modern lipstain. Perfect!

I can’t wait to see your pictures, you’re going to look beautiful. I love the deep colors! I am going to try a subtle vintage 50s look. I love the soft wavy hairstyles. Think Grace Kelly :)
