Accessorize Me, Part Four

May 15th, 2008 @ 9:29 am by Miss Cupcake

I have heard lots of brides say that they barely even use or notice their purse on the day of their wedding, so with this in mind, I decided to stick with a tight budget when it came to a bridal clutch. Sometimes I was tempted, though, by stunners like these:

Martine Satin Party Clutch from J.Crew - $98

Franchi Clarice Evening Clutch from Endless.com - $102La Regale Antique Frame Full Bead from Endless.com - $98

Franchi Handbags Azure Tafetta Clutch from Zappos - $149

I also found this cute one for $39, and although it’s much less expensive than the others, I still don’t feel like spending $40 on something that no one will even see.

La Regale Satin Clutch from Endless.com - $39

While in New York last weekend my SIL took me to some jewelry stores that had walls completely lined with costume jewelry at very good prices. Although this is not where I found my earrings, I did find a great little simple clutch that not only perfectly matched the swatch of my dress fabric, but it was only $15.

It’s hard to tell in the photos, but I swear it’s champagne!

It is more structured than the other drool-worthy clutches that I can’t afford, but simple doesn’t have to be a bad thing. I can easily dress it up to be a little more fab:

With a rhinestone brooch that I wore on a sash in my brother’s wedding

Or with the Piper Ewan flower I bought off of Etsy
(originally for my hair, but I decided it’s a bit too bold!)

In what creative ways have you spruced up bargain purchases for your wedding?

either the brooch or the flower change the look of that bag entirely! i say go with the brooch bc of the sentimentality of your brother’s wedding, but i do love the fun-ness of the blue flower

brooch looks classic, flower look fun!
can you maybe use the brooch on your bouquet?
i say use the flower on the clutch b/c it would be a nice pop of color that might show up in one of your photos.

I’ve been drooling over the same blue clutch from Jcrew, but cannot justify the expense. Even though blue is my favorite color, I love how the brooch looks on your clutch. Great find!

Ugh. Drooling over clutches has pretty much been my favorite part of wedding planning.

I have decided to exercise my love for them by sewing a clutch for me and my bridesmaids. They are all going to be a bit different, and not really match the wedding theme, but they will be able to use them again, and I still think they would be good to use for the wedding cause they will all be the same metal frame closure style and they will be made with love! :)

Anyway, this should cost less than buying just the ONE clutch I have been drooling over!

Great find! I cant decide which I like better, the brooch or the flower…they are both so pretty in their own way! Either way…SCORE!

I love the flower!

And just to confirm that we think alike… my step-mom bought me the top clutch in navy after I posted about it a couple weeks ago :)

I like the look of the brooch, but it might hurt your hand or catch on things, especially a veil if you’re wearing one.

For my wedding purse, I bought a small beaded purse and completely removed the “purse” portion, leaving only the frame. Then I made my own purse out of fabric and sewed it onto the original frame. Turned out much more elegant than the original gaudy beads…

Personally I love the flower, but I thought the idea of using the broch in your bouquet was a good suggestion :)

I love the flower as well, the brooch is sorta wintery and snowflake-like. Plus that pop of color is awesome!

Ditto KatyStardust!

It looks so awesomely stylish that doubles as your “something blue”!

I asked my best friend for her wedding purse as my ’something borrowed’ for my wedding day. That way, I didn’t have to worry about shopping for one myself, and I had a token from her wedding with me too. It ended up staying in the bridal suite all night, but I did use it to hold my lipstick and oil mattifier (which I used between the ceremony + reception, plus after the reception to touch up before my afterparty)!
