Guest Pictures, All in One Place

May 15th, 2008 @ 12:05 pm by Mrs. Penguin

Why mess with success?  Mrs. Lemon showed us how to collect non-pro photos from our guests via Flickr, and I ran with it. Originally I planned to copy her idea exactly, however, my inkjet printer isn’t equipped to handle small pieces of cardstock (I bought blank, pre cut business cards), so I had to go the Gocco route.

Because I turned to Gocco, I wanted to keep the font pt size above 10, and wasn’t able to fit all the pertinent info with a 10 pt font, so I made some minor modifications. Ultimately, it’s just an extra step, which isn’t too bad.

The cards send our guests to our wedding website, which contains all the info needed to log onto Flickr and upload pictures. (click to view full screen)

Then, to make sure the guests took the cards home, I slipped them into our coaster favors.

..and now we sit back and wait for the photos to roll in!

What a great idea! Also, I love your favors!

That’s a great idea for getting them home and all! Awesome! I’m also planning to direct everyone to the wedding website. We (I think) should be able to link directly from there to where they go to upload, etc…using our mac account rather than flickr, which I think is neat b/c everyone is already familiar with going to the wedding website. :)

I was working on mine last night too! Yours are so pretty!

The poms on the favor boxes are gorgeous!

I’m following the Martha directions on how to make them, but mine are nowhere near as poofy in the center as yours. Any suggestions?

Miss Penguin says:

@Trebuchet: perhaps use a longer strip of tissue than suggested? It gives you more volume. Or, an extra sheet of tissue paper if you’ve already pre-cut your strips?

Brilliant! If anyone didn’t get to do this for their wedding, they could also send them out with their thank you cards.

@Angel: Great idea! We’re not doing favors, so this is a good alternative (and incentive to get the TYs out faster!). I’m also planning on putting this information in the programs.

I love all of your projects so much! Thanks for sharing. This might just be my nit-picky editorial eye, but I think it’s spelled “plagiarized.” It’s a strange one.

One of the most aggravating thing about digital pics is that people say they’ll share, but rarely do. I love this idea…a chance to corral all the hidden gems hiding on people’s digital cameras. Your favors turned out super cute.

I think you said you got your flower/bird graphic from istockphoto.com? Is there any chance you know the user name for the seller of your file? I’m looking for something similar.. but without the birds! I don’t think my green color scheme is bird-appropriate!

@Alli D: Hi there! The sellers name is “Ceneri”

Good luck!
