Lost in a Sea of Shoes

May 15th, 2008 @ 2:31 pm by Mrs. Pineapple

I come from a family of large footed giants. I didn’t inherit the tall genes, but this here pineapple has BIG feet. I wear a size 11 (which at least they sell in most stores) in “sock” shoes and I would be a size 10.5 in “sock-less” shoes, if they made 10.5. So, I usually end up with a 10 and have to spend some time breaking them in. Since I have always had big feet, I have also always had a hard time finding shoes that I like and that fit. This makes shoe shopping a dreaded task.

When it comes to shoes to wear on my wedding day I am lost. I would like something fun and unique, but I don’t want to spend more than $50. I was thinking that copper shoes would be perfect, and this is what I have found so far:

I hate to say it, but these are all pretty ugly options. The wedge is ok, but not great. I also don’t really want my toes peeking out anywhere.

On the other hand, I am seriously considering just wearing the cowboy boots that Mr. Pineapple bought me for my birthday. I wear these boots (or my black pair) every time I wear jeans, without fail. I love love love them. They are perfectly molded to my feet, they have a heel, I know I can wear them all day and they were a gift from Mr. P.

I was already planning on wearing them for the reception so I can get my cowgirl line dance on, but I am not sure they are “nice” enough to wear for the ceremony and photos.

So girls, I need your help

i am sure these are perfectly molded to your feet, but maybe a new pair of shiny cowboy boots especially for the wedding would work?? you could probably find some in your wedding colors or white… if you dont think that is a little too much… i mean white paton leather boots? you may never wear them again but they would be great in pics!!! but a color would be cool in pics and you could probably wear them again! hope you find something that works!!

I vote boots, because:

1. Ease—you already own them, you love how they fit, and you’re clearly comfortable enough with how they look with your dress to wear them at your reception.

2. Will you even be able to see your feet during the ceremony and photos? Probably not, except when you are walking—and even then, how many guests at a wedding focus on a bride’s feet and not the huge smile on her face when she’s walking down the aisle?

So give those boots a good shine before the big day and you’ll be golden. Very unique and cute.

3. An alternative would be to abandon the copper idea and wear some other simple but more formal shoe (perhaps something else you already own for the ceremony and photos, if you

I just want to know where you found the shoes at the top right? What brand and style are they? I love them! And do they come in gold?

Also, I love the idea of the boots. You need to be comfy. And you love them. ‘Nuff said.

@JessicaSpeak: how did you do that? I swear I have been looking for months, you must be magical! The are a bit over what I want to spend (because I am cheap and buy my shoes at payless and target), but definitely the copper front runner

@Miss Hydrangea: stunning photos! Um, and that couch? Amazing.

I think some of those are pretty cute. I particularly like the flats and the wedge.

I can’t remember what “feel” you’re going for with the wedding, but your boots seem a too warn for a formal affair. But… maybe you could put the money you were going to spend on shoes towards a new pair of boots that you could wear to the wedding?

Would you be able to give your books a slight makeover? aka oil them up or something so they’d be even more lovely than they already are? (That is a thing you can do to boots, right? I feel like my grandpa used to randomly coat his cowboy boots in something to keep them extra fancy fancy.
And I love the look of an unexpected shoe peeking out from under a wedding dress….except for uggs (sorry to uggs lovers but poo to that.)

Keep in mind, with your dress on, the shoes don’t show until you want them to. Its a unique detail that wont be noticeable until you feel you want to show them off. I think day of, you will LOVE being in your boots. They are more of who you are.

Check shore warehouses they always seem to have a plethora of bridal shoes in size 10.5 and 11. Being a size 11 myself shoe shopping has never been a pleasurable experience for me but thanks to ebay I feel a bit better.

I say go for the boots as is, all nice and worn in. Cute! Or maybe do shoes for the ceremony and change into boots later? These are kind of cute and come in a 10.5 in bronze which looks kind of copper-ish. http://www.bellissimabridalshoes.com/product/017817.shtml

I love Rainbow sandals, I wear them constantly, no matter what the season or weather conditions (I’ve even worn them in the snow). They are insanely comfortable and I was planning on wearing a white pair for the reception at my wedding. The more I thought about it, it didn’t make sense to get a pair of heels (which I’m not a fan of, it kills my knees), to wear for an hour then to change into my Rainbows immediately after. So I’m wearing them for the ceremony too, and my fiance thinks its great, because its totally me. So my vote is definitely for the boots! What better way to make your wedding that much more personalized.

Would something like this work?:

http://www.6pm.com/n/p/p/7219951/c/57186.html

It gives the cowboy flavor, comes in “bone” (and brown, rust and yellow) and only costs $52.80.
