E-Pic Q and A

May 16th, 2008 @ 9:59 am by Mrs. Penguin

Dear Miss Penguin,

Why do you have so many freaking pictures of yourself?

Answer: I dunno. And I have no idea what I’m going to do with all the pictures. But these turned out wonderful! I was going to forgo engagement pics altogether because I thought they were strange….which is why I put it off until 3 months before our wedding. But actually seeing them come to life has changed my mind. Of course, what to do with them now? Who knows. Here’s our session with our faboo photographer, Sarah K. Chen! I can’t wait to reunite with her at the wedding!

I’ll refrain from having a one way conversation with myself now and move on to the pictures…

I’m thrilled that Sarah took a lot of shots where we weren’t exactly the “main focus” of the picture, because I see myself putting these types of pictures in our home moreso than the pictures of us in center frame, smiling. It’s fun to consider what kind of pictures you have decorating your home when thinking about Engagement picture locales…these architectural shots will fit in just nicely with our loft decor, should we ever decide to display a few in our house!

So, now that you’ve got 8.2 billion new cute pictures of you and your Fiance, what are you going to do with them? Any creative ideas?

Fi and I travel a lot, so as a random present one day I made a mini-book on Kodakgallery for him to take along with him wherever he goes! He loves it and we actually traveled together last weekend and he pulled it out of his iPod headset bag on the plane and gave me a goofy little smile. it was cute!

i <3 your e-pics….they are sooo luv-a-ly and cudd-a-ly…..

its not looking like we’ll be able to afford the e-photo session. But i’m really hoping that we can get some off focus pics at the wedding to throw up in our home……i’m planning on doing an art gallery style wall to focus several pics, wedding pics included.

I have some bride and grooms make a guest book out of their e-session photos. Just design a coffee table book and leave plenty of white space around the images for people to sign. You can also add other photos that tell your love story.

Your pics are great! We ended up making photo albums for our parents with the pictures, and then also made our guestbook with the photos as well!

I was going to do a guestbook with our e-pics, but then saw storyboards on my photog’s website. They are large prints, ours will be about 20×24, with three or four photos and lots of white space. Guests will sign in the white space; like a modern version of guests signing the mat around a photo.

As for the other 98 e-pics… I have no idea.

Those are gorgeous! The background of the second photo almost looks like a heart! And I love the one where you guys are on the flight of stairs… might have to steal that idea :) !

I love love love them.. I get what you’re saying about photos where you aren’t the center of them… The one with the three sets of stairs is AMAZING and would be so cool blown up and displayed as cool art, not just a portrait, I think.

Miss Penguin,
I LOVEEEEE your pics, just gorgeous
We want to do a shoot on the UCLA campus as well, did you have to pay for a shooting Permit? If so, how much was it? Did you go through the Events center??

You guys are so sweet :)

@Mrs. Lemon: The thought of me being on your computer screen cracks me up!

@summer: Oh WOW! I wish you would have said hello :) We had such a great time, but the sun was fading fast!

@Mariken: I dont think you need a permit, and if you do, we didnt get one. Since this was for personal use, I’m pretty confident you’re okay just showing up and shooting, especially on a quiet weekend.

@AliCherri1: Yep, those are at the Getty as well. Youre technically not supposed to shoot there…but we didnt run into any problems. I googled “Getty center” and “engagement photos” and you do hear of some people being asked to leave. We didnt go inside of any of the buildings, which is where I think they have more of a problem with you taking pics.

Love the pictures! We used our e-pics for custom invite stamps, in our programs, on our website, in our photo display at the reception, and on one of or table numbers. (We had each table number be a year in or lives and pictures of one or both of us during that year with a short description)

Sarah’s faboo and so are you! (ugh, I’m disgusted by my own cheesiness!)

=) gorgeous photos! I’m going to be glad to take engagement photos because we actually don’t take photos very often.
