Escort Wine Charms

May 16th, 2008 @ 5:23 pm by Mrs. Penguin

Taking gobs of inspiration from two of the most talented gals around, Huckleberry Karen and Lisa at Bellissima Vita, I sat down last night to make our escort cards that will tell guests where they are seated and also serve as wine charms for folks to keep track of their wine glasses.

The inspiration:

And my own, below. Here’s the step-by-step:

I printed my guests’ names on cardstock, their table assignment, and a little design that matches the rest of our wedding scheme.

Then, cut them out, and also cut slightly larger pieces of coordinating cardstock.

Adhere using your adhesive of choice. I used Xyron.

I purchased some wire hoop jewelery ($2.50 for a pack of 60) at a craft store, along with some beads that match our color scheme ($3.00 for 100 beads). The reason I chose jewelry hoops over ribbon, while it’s less pretty, it’s easier to slip on (versus tie) on the day of the wedding for whoever has to set it up.

Poke a little hole in the cardstock using the sharp end of an X-acto knife, and thread bead-card-bead….and that’s it!

The cost associated with this project is negligible. I guess maybe less than $15 (if that) for 120 escort cards.

Oh, what a good idea! They turned out beautifully. (And actually, I like the wire more than the ribbon).

This is the first escort/place card idea that made me wish that we were doing assigned seats just so that I could use it… hmmm…

These came out really well! I also like that you used the rings instead of the ribbon too, good choice.

I like the rings as well, ribbon can come loose and lose it’s identity as a wine marker. They came out beautifully! I have a question though and maybe I’m just ignorant here, but will you have the wine glasses all set up at the escort card table and your guests will carry the whole wine glass to their table, or will they just have the marker at the escort card table and your guests will attach them themselves?

@LeahB: The cards will be attached to the wine glasses already, and the guests will either carry them to their table, or just use them to find their table and go get themselves a glass of wine at the bar with it :)

I really like this idea!! The ones you created turned out really well. Does any one have an idea of an alternate card idea for any kids? Just attach them to water goblets instead? I love this for the adults but somehow I have a feeling that some of the parents attending my wedding might not be happy if we hand their teens wineglasses, even if it’s just for display purposes.

Yay Duluth! And I totally agree - the rings look awesome and will stay on much better than ribbons (and not get in the way of the wine drinking).
