About Mrs. Flamingo

For a Superhero

May 16th, 2008 @ 4:23 pm by Mrs. Flamingo

If Mr. Flamingo could fly and have all of Superman’s powers, he would be the happiest man alive (it’d make him happier than getting married to me - I’m serious :) ) His bond with Superman is unbreakable… so I have to play Lois Lane once in a while.

Well, today is Mr. Flamingo’s 30th birthday - HAPPY BIRTHDAY my sweetheart! Though he may feel old because he’s no longer in his twenties, he’s still young at heart. I thought for this special occasion I would share with you an image of him at his finest (I hope he doesn’t see this - he’s going to kill me)

(Mr. Flamingo at only 6 months old - and already a Superman fan)

It’s certain that the wedding process could not go by without some Superman element incorporated somewhere. So both Mr. Flamingo and his best man will have a pair of these official Superman cuff links. I’ve never seen 2 grown men this excited before!

I’m also planning on making him a Superman garter (shhh it’s a surprise) and will most likely play the actual Superman theme song when he goes to get it. It’ll be really funny and I’m pretty sure he’ll be happy.

Is your fiancé a superhero freak? Are you incorporating any of your fiance’s hobbies or interests into your wedding?

My man LOVES superheroes too. He wears superhero shirts, and I’m positive he’ll want something like this in our wedding :)

Joyeux Vingt-dixième anniversaire, Monsieur Flamingo!

(It’s MUCH less painful when you think of going from twenty-nine to twenty-ten, and so on…. ;) )

30+ is fabulous! Welcome to the club Mr. Flamingo
FI and I both love superheros. I am still very excited about Ironman, Batman, and Hulk movies out this summer. Fortunately, this is another love we share.

My husband also LOVES Superman…we were introduced into our reception to the theme from the movie…cheesy, yes…but he was so excited about it! I had a superman garter too >:)

Too bad I didn’t know about the cufflinks, he would have loved them!

Did Mr. Flamingo catch the Smallville season finale this week? Curious what he thought of it…

@Mr. Bee: No unfortunately they dont play smallville on Montreal TV stations anymore. We have to either download them or wait until the DVDs come out. We were so sad… because weve been watching Smallville religiously together since it started. (I love smallville too )

Mine absolutely loves the Transformers. You got me thinking that maybe I should try to find some Optimus Prime cufflinks or some such. :)

So cute! He’s only 6 months in that photo?? Wow, he looks like he’s 2 years old, haha. But the superman obsession is adorable, and Happy Birthday Mr. Flamingo!!

FI loves to hunt & fish, so I’m going to get him a groom’s cake of either a fish or a deer head or a hog- those are his favourite.

alli, my fiance also loves Transformers! I have never seen a grown man so excited to see a movie– I think he may be more excited for the sequel to come out next summer than for us to get married! (Hehe, just kiddin’ :p )

Cufflinks.com has Batman, Spiderman, Superman, and Captain America cufflinks (under “Liscenced Cufflinks”), but no Transformers. If you’re an eBay buyer, I found some there, but most were either gold or silver and uber-expensive. Maybe there’s some other way we can make our geeks happy? :) Transformers groom cake? Transformers as toppers? The music from the old movie is probably obscure enough to use at some point without people saying “oh, that’s from Transformers…”

My FI and I both got Optimus Prime shirts from Urban Outfitters, and I’m seriously considering taking some pics in them for our invites. He would be unbelievably happy, and it would go with our somewhat goofy, playful theme.

Yeh, my fiance LOVE Green Lantern. But its super hard the find green latern stuff. (or at least the Green Lantern character he likes) I customer ordered some cufflinks from Etsy, but when I got them I was disappointed. There weren’t even the same shape, one was a big oval, the other a circle, and the were off center and you could see the glue they used. bah. So I must continue my search.

My fiance is a HUGE Superhero geek!! We have Alex Ross art work in our hall way, ‘Busts’ in the cabinet in our bedroom and the livingroom and his 3 year old daughter has been ‘allowed’ to play with his old figures!! (Very honoured!!) lol

We are getting married in August this year and we are signing the Register having the ‘Love Song’ from Superman played in the background. I have also got a Superman garter…found it on eBay. It’s so amazing when you can add these little bits of ‘us’ into our wedding instead of it all being frills and lace!! We’re having a ‘fun’ wedding that is unique to us and what we enjoy!!!
