Please Mr. Postman

Look and see, is there a letter in your bag for me?

I have never been good at waiting on mail. When I was in my senior year of high school and waiting for college acceptances, I checked the mail three times a day (once in the morning on the way to school, once at lunch and once after school) every day until I got into the school of my choice.

Lately, I’ve been having a flashback to those days as I wait for our guests to return their R.S.V.P. cards and for the lovely accessories I ordered from etsy to arrive. Every day when I come home, the first words out my mouth are “Did we get any mail?”

We’ve still got time until the R.S.V.P. deadline and I don’t need the accessories right now, but I have to admit I’m getting a little excitable about it and have become a mailbox stalker when it comes to these things. After all, it’s the first time since we’ve been in the new place that we’re not just getting bills or fliers for horrible looking Chinese take-out!

Am I the only one kicking it Marvelette-style for the postman to bring me lovely letters in the mail? Share your postal obsession with me.

I’ve always been like that anyway — something so exciting about getting a letter or brand new magazine has always made me just ruuuuun to the mailbox straight-away. I can only imagine the craziness that will ensue when the invites are out!

They are just trickling in… yesterday we received zero. I even looked through the circular twice to see if maybe one of the tiny envelopes might have been tucked into the mass of paper. Nope. I know I still have 2 weeks, but I just want them all right NOW!

We live in an apartment building in NYC. Every day I would stop by the mailroom to see if I had any RSVPs and the mail carrier started to notice I was obviously waiting for something. Eventually he and I became friends and he put aside the RSVPs every day and handed them to me when I came by! :-)

Heck yeah! I am a self admitted mail addict and will bowl over the ol’ fiance in search of any piece of mail with my name on it when we get in the front door…..which is why it was SOOOOO lame that we did online RSVP’s (to save on postage and paper)…. :(
Though I did make up for it with my recent Etsy shopping sprees (yes plural) and online shoe shopping sprees (yes plural). Mmmmm….online shopping…..

Me too! We are passed our initial “early bird” cluster of RSVPs, so now they are just trickling in. The other day we didn’t get ANY, and I made my FI double check the mailbox! He gave me a “Do you think I don’t know how to check a mailbox correctly?” look, but indulged me.

We haven’t sent our invitations yet but I know I will be doing the same thing as you. Whenever I order something in the mail, I come home from work, look in the mail, if I see a package I’ll yell “WOO-HOO!”. If I don’t see the expected item, I usually sound sad and muttered “Awww” :’(

OMG I totally hit refresh on the tracking page of UPS when I’m expecting something ! I just ordered some things from Sav-on-crafts and they came super early and I did little jigs of joy !

I’ve been obsessively checking for packages from the items I’ve purchased for the wedding & reception (bubbles, cameras, matchbooks, personalized hershey kisses, flip flops, & a cute honeymoon underwear set). Once my invites go out I might as well set up CAMP at my mailbox. I love love love getting mail. I’m so with you. :)

Haha I felt like I was reading about me when I read your post!! Our RSVPs are due tomorrow and we still have a big chunk missing :( It’s been kinda sad when I run out excitedly to the mailbox and there is only one (or none!) in there. I’m hoping when I go check today I’ll have 40 :)

I have a week left until our RSVP Deadline, and I’ve been horribly addicted to checking the mail, I started going home for lunch to check the mail. Wishing for more little shiney pink envelopes to arrive.

The last two days we haven’t gotten any mail, which makes me think our mail man hates us. We are still missing about 30% of the RSVPs.

I haven’t even sent out my Save The Dates yet but I’ve emailed people and already anxiously awaiting replies to my informal email!!!

I totally get the mail obsession. To make a really long story short, my fiance is going through a Catholic annulment (we’re at month 20 right now) and status updates on his case are ONLY COMMUNICATED THROUGH MAIL…so, everyday I ask the same question, “any mail today?”…and he knows exactly what I’m referring to.
