About Mrs. Tiramisu

Animoto

May 17th, 2008 @ 10:36 am by Mrs. Tiramisu

Animoto is this great slideshow making tool that I found out about on the Soiree Special Events blog. I tested it out by uploading some of my favorites from the engagement shoot we had with Girls With Big Cameras. It turned out so cool that I wanted to share it with you all! It’s super easy to use - basically you just upload your pictures, choose music to set the slideshow to, and voila! It’s free for a 30-second slideshow. I decided to pony up the three bucks to try out the full-length version, and here’s what I came up with:

This would be a neat way to share your engagement/wedding/honeymoon pictures! I was able to add this slideshow to our wedding website for our guests to check out. Animoto also offers a year subscription where you can make as many slideshows as you want for $30. (Or to save $5, tell them I referred you, by clicking: here.)

Any other good free/cheap slideshow making programs out there? I’m about to start scanning in photos to make our rehearsal dinner slideshow, so I’m looking for a good one!

Photo credits all to: Girls With Big Cameras

Thank you sooo much for posting this! I was dreading spending hours putting together a slide show, but I did the 30 second film on their site in about 10 minutes and it is amazing! This will save me a lot of work :)

did you add/choose the effects? It looks great, and is nicely timed to the music!

Sound Slides Plus might be another option (at least I THINK that’s what it’s called). I just found out about it last week at work… I believe its about $60–but it was super simple, with plenty of customization options. They were using it along with Audacity (free) to produce slide shows using edited voice overs with photos…

@Mani: Thanks! I will check it out!

@Mrs. Lovebug: Yes, you can pick from their library or upload one of your own… I couldn’t figure out how to upload from itunes, since the music is copyrighted, but I’m sure there is a way to do it if you were a little more computer savvy.

@brendalynn: Nope, that’s the best part- you just upload the pictures, choose the music, then they time it to the music for you. Once you buy a full length video ($3) you can “re-mix” it as many times as you want to get different effects, change the music, even “highlight” certain photos that you want shown more prominently.

What a cool program. This will be a PERFECT addition to my spend-no-real-money-but-let’s-have-a-lovely-day anniversary celebration next week! Thanks, Miss T!

On a side note, my mom lives in Eastport and it was fun seeing Annapolis in the background of all your shots!

This is awesome! I wish I knew about this before my wedding but I think I’ll use it to create one for our parents with our wedding photos. Just wondering though, do you have the option of saving it to a disk after you’re done?

I used One True Media (i think its onetruemedia.com) for a couple of slideshows and loved it. It was simple and user friendly. SO user friendly that I even adjusted which order the pictures were so it showed up at a particular word in the song. I know they have an “upgrade” option but I’ve just used the free one. Oh - and if you LOVE IT - you can get them to send it to you in DVD format too.

Windows has “Movie Maker” which I have found easy to use, but you do need to add all of the effects yourself, similar to powerpoint.
