About Mrs. Hummingbird

Pretty Shiny Things

May 17th, 2008 @ 4:29 pm by Mrs. Hummingbird

From the beginning, I knew I wanted a special necklace to go with my dress. For months I’d looked at pieces at boutiques and bridal shows, but somehow everything seemed way too “blingy” for our afternoon garden wedding.

So, like any logical bride, I turned to the no fail place for jewelery - Etsy. With over 100,000 sellers, if you can’t find it there, it doesn’t exist.

My criteria was simple:
1) It had to be silver.
2) It had to have a splash of colour.
3) It had to have a kind of nature/botanical look to it.

I was hunting on everybody’s favourite craft site for maybe a day when I stumbled across Meg Leigh’s shop and was sold. Simple and beautifully designed pieces, they were exactly what I was looking for . . . which actually made it really hard for me to decide what to order. So many awesome choices!

Anyway, I ordered last week and Meg, a busy engaged lady herself, shipped to me right away so that the parcel arrived today and I don’t just like it . . . I love it! In fact, I love it so much, that my sense of spelling is impaired and I lurve it! It is just bold enough to make a statement, but just delicate enough to work with the softness of my lace dress. Gorgeous!

It was a long hard hunt for my necklace, however I think I struck gold . . . er . . . I mean silver with this find. Take a look!

Lurve it!

That necklace is really beautiful! It will look lovely with your dress. Funnily enough, I bought the ‘tree of life’ necklace from Meg just a couple of months ago to wear for my wedding! It came in a lovely little box with a sweet personal message from Meg, and she emailed me a few times to check that it had arrived safely! Such a lovely person!

Your necklace will look so pretty on you.
I really like the presentation of the jewelry on that wood bust…adds to the ambiance and more importantly, you can see the details of the jewelry.

I love Meg Leigh’s work! My fiance surprised me with her crystal bloom pendant (in black) for my birthday and it’s absolutely gorgeous. I’m so glad other bees have had great experiences with her, too!

Just a helpful hint: some of her photographs look bigger on the wood bust (which is not the size of a human neck) than they are in real life. Make sure you read the dimensions of the pendant you are thinking about purchasing to get the most realistic idea of what the size is like. I originally thought her pendants were huge and was hesitant to order, but then I read the measurements and found that the one I wanted was the perfect size.

oooh, great find! I’m looking for wedding jewelry too and this is beautiful stuff that’s nontraditional (I’m not really into the whole pearls & diamonds bit). thanks for posting :)

Miss Hummingbird, THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting about Megan. I’ve just begun my search for jewelry and I think I may have just finished as a result of your post.
