The ‘Bird Flu

It is a long weekend here in Canada (Victoria Day) and it’s a good thing too, because this little Hummingbird has come down with the bird flu. :(

With the wedding planning and work, I’ve been going full stop for a while now and, with a moment to rest, my immune system called it quits. So, instead of partying it up and enjoying the free time this weekend should have offered, I’ve been curled up in fetal position with classic cold symptoms. Sore throat. Aching ears. Runny nose. Fever. Boo.

After three days in sickie hybernation, I am finally starting to feel better (hooray!) but I have to admit, as crappy as I felt, it was kind of nice to have a bit of a reprieve from last-minute details and to just hang out. I did send off a couple of e-mails, but mostly, I drank tea, soaked in a nice hot bath, read a couple of books I’d been waiting to read, and watched some weekend afternoon programming (CSI marathon anyone?). It was actually pretty relaxing and made me remember the advantages of slowing down in the middle of matrimonial madness.

What are your favourite things to do on a lazy day off from work and planning?

Laundry - how sad it that? But it is sometimes the only time I have for laundry hahaha.
But, if I don’t have laundry to do I’ll catch up on all the shows on my DVR.

P.S. I hope you are feeling better :)

Oh dear— poor Hum!

I think our bodies sometimes find drastic ways of making us slow down and get some much needed rest.

Hope you are up and flitting from flower to flower– but in a relaxed and unstressed manner :) — real soon!

You said “this little Hummingbird has come down with the bird flu”. Now did you really mean the bird flu, or were you being cute with words?

My mother used to rent Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure when I was a sick child. It still makes me feel better! Try a silly movie… laughter will help you feel better! Rest up, lady!
