The Unveiling of My Centerpiece

May 19th, 2008 @ 2:43 pm by Mrs. Flamingo

Like I had mentioned in my previous post, Mr. Flamingo and I wanted some type of chandelier on a stand for our centerpieces, but we didn’t want to make a big hole in our budget. While shopping for the holidays, I suddenly had this “AWWWWWWWW” moment - and I apologize because I never showed you what that AWWW piece was.

Well without further ado here it is:

They are beautiful, clear, vase-type candle holders. We got 2 different models - the ones you see at the front which are shaped like wine glasses, and the ones at the back that are thin and long. Both models have a ribbed pattern in the glass which will create beautiful lighting. Plus they are all different heights - so it will create such a great effect.

These vases were such a deal : the smaller ones were 9.99$ and the taller ones were 12.99$, all purchased at Winners and HomeSense.

After showing you all the bits and pieces of my centerpieces I can finally show you the finished product. Now I apologize for the blurriness of the photos. Either way I’m pretty sure you’ll get the picture. (get it picture  - :) )

My DIY chandelier on a stand:

I am so happy with the outcome. Even my mom is glad she took part in the DIY - she’s the one that cut all the strands of beads and created the hooks using jewelry wiring to give it a WOW factor.

Here are close ups of the votives and the beading:

We have 22 vases in total and with everything: vases, candles, votive holders, tea lights, bead stands, bead curtain, wiring and mirrors, our centerpieces came out to 19.00$ each (including 13% taxes).

So what do you think?

They look so beautiful, I absolutly love them!

One question, who will set up the centerpieces the day of the wedding?

Gorgeous. For a more sophisticated look try to add some black stones inside the vase or colored ones if you want more color. If you decide to use non edged votives candle holders you may wrap some colored paper around it or print something on vellum paper and then do the wrap around.
Another idea: try to wrap some colored satin ribbon around the main vase before adding the beads.

Great job! Can I ask where you got the votives? Our venue provides pewter candle holders & tea lights, I wanted to add a bit more lighting, those votives are decorative and elegant.

Niiiiice. My venue doesn’t allow candles other than on the head table and outside on the terrace. I am so jealous.

Oh my goodness Miss Flamingo, those are just lovely! I’m getting married next June and wanted to do candle centre pieces or chandeliers as well; and you’ve completely inspired me!

If you ever contemplate selling your centre pieces, let me know…. :)
