Packing it Up

May 21st, 2008 @ 4:10 pm by Miss Tiramisu

I’m following Miss Cherry Pie’s lead, getting in my car, and making the looooong drive to my wedding location! After a stop in Philadelphia tomorrow, I’ll be on the road to Maine. On the agenda is my first dress fitting(!), a hair and makeup trial, a meeting with the florist, meeting with the rental company to choose linens, stuffing our invitation envelopes, and mailing them out! Fortunately I’ve got a couple of weeks to get all of that done.

Since I’ve been planning from here in Maryland for months, I’ve accumulated quite the pile of wedding stuff. It’s been slowly taking over our dining room, but the time has come to move it to Maine. I’m sure my mom is super excited about all of it showing up at her house in a couple of days- and adding to the piles that I’ve already had shipped straight there. :)

Take a look and let me know if you think it’s all going to fit in my Honda Civic… and my wedding dress is coming along too!

There’s a lot there that I need to catch up on blogging about, and I’ll do my best to catch up during my time off!

The car’s going to be too stuffed for Mr. Tiramisu to come along- besides, he’s got to work (someone has to support all that wedding shoe purchasing! …kidding, kidding). I’m sad that we’ll be apart for a few weeks, but I’m really excited to get my mom and my family involved in the wedding craziness. We’ve got less than two months left, and my mom hasn’t even seen my dress yet!

Wedding stuff taking over your house too?

If you have issues fitting that into your car - you have packing issues! I guess you never had to pack everything in your car to go to college? I remember arriving and being on of the people unloading load after load after load from my car - clown car style. =)

At least its all organized!! :)

Dont forget to take along a bunch of cds of different music styles so you don’t get bored!

can I ask where you’re getting your makeup done? I’m having a Maine wedding and thought I’d do my own. But I was curious about what was available. I’m gonna be in midcoast maine.

How ironic … I’m making the exact opposite drive (Portland to Annapolis) tomorrow for my best friend’s big day on Saturday. Looooong drive indeed! Enjoy! :)

I’m wondering what is in the show box… Oh, you ask which shoe box?!? The wedding shoe one. Which blue shoe did you finally decide on?

Wow! We’re just under 5 months out and there is a whole section of our dining room dedicated to an ever expanding pile of wedding stuff (neatly organized in bins, mind you). I’m sure by the wedding, it will have taken over completely!

Have a fabulous drive and enjoy the wedding stuff!

I completely feel your pain we had so much wedding stuff I drove the 3 1/2 hours out to our wedding site two weeks before our wedding with the car full to the brim with stuff. My then fiance said oh I’ll come with and I said where will you sit? On the roof? No that’s ok I need all the space for STUFF.

I ended up renting a storage space to put it all in before the wedding and then dropped a bunch of it off after the wedding there and now I have to go pick it up this weekend :( so I can finally sell it all off! It was at one point completely taking over our entire guestroom of our house so I cant say I am looking forward to bringing it back agian.

Good luck with the drive out there! I found packing our car was like a great big jigsaw puzzle “if I move this here will this fit…No darn!”

I was so relieved that I am not the only one with too much wedding paraphanelia!

I see that you have boxes labeled “bridemaids gifts.” Just wondering what you decided to do for gifts. I am having a nightmare of a time trying to figure out gifts for my bridesmaids and I’m picking everyones’ brains for ideas!!

I’m curious too- blue sea glass? Would love to see it (and know your source, hee hee)! Good luck lugging all that on your trip (and yeah, storage is def. an issue, I am over a year from my wedding still and the entire spare bedroom at my mother’s house is devoted to wedding goods!)

I see you have 100 pounds of sea glass… im using sea glass for my wedding too. Where did you purchase yours? and how are you using it?

I live in a 450 sq ft apartment with my fiance — it is now our “wedding closet”.

@nellers: I’m trying out Freedom Salon in York, Maine… a little too far south probably for you though!

@emily: Some vases from Ikea (smaller ones) and candle holders, and larger vases from dollar tree direct. I’ll try to post more about these soon!

@sarahbe: Stay tuned, I promise a post soon!

@katie: @alicia: We’re using the sea glass on the tables, and we got it at http://www.wholesalersusainc.com

I made it home! Thanks everyone for the well wishes! I promise I’ll post all the contents of the boxes soon ;)
