About Mrs. Magnolia

I have to interrupt my chronological wedding-day posting to insert gratuitous cake shots, per Miss Pineapple’s request…

A few days ago, Miss Pineapple wrote a great post about the cake designs that she was considering – and her first inspiration was the following:

Coincidentally enough, that is the exact same picture that I brought to show my bakery. The only thing is, though…I didn’t have any other options. I found this picture in the very first wedding magazine I bought after Mr. Mags and I got engaged, and I never considered anything else. Swiss dots, satin ribbon - it was perfect. Our reception venue contracts with a local bakery, so our wedding cake was included in our total reception package. Even better, the bakery that they use, The Frosted Pumpkin, has an incredible reputation in the Atlanta area. Last fall, my FMIL and I went out to the suburbs (Alpharetta/Cumming to be exact) for the obligatory cake tasting, and we decided on two flavors – chocolate with chocolate fudge filling and white cake with lemon and raspberry fillings.

And then, I whipped out the picture, and Jeff – the business guy behind The Frosted Pumpkin – laughed and turned to his computer. It turns out, they had created that exact cake just a couple of weeks before! I told him that I wasn’t sold on the flowers, and that I’d actually prefer a fourth cake layer. ‘No problem,’ he responded, which is exactly the kind of response I like to hear from vendors!

And, that was that. Wedding cake decided. I gave it little to no thought from that moment on, until I saw the cake at the reception. And at that moment, I was blown away.

It was huge. And beautiful, and amazing, and absolutely perfect. Oh, and it tasted delicious, to boot.

My favorite picture of the cake is this one:

oh my goodness! Thanks for posting! I didn’t even notice the swiss dots, too cute. When I first saw the photos of your cake, I thought it was the inspiration cake again - they did a great job.

I had the same experience. I saw the first cake and fell in love with all the details. I had the Four Seasons mock the exact cake with the flowers and just took out the ribbon. It was simple and beautiful.
