Super Good News : wedding toronto Z146268 z146268

Way back in January, as a post-script to an entry I wrote about being sick, I mentioned that a cousin of mine was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. By the time she was diagnosed, the cancer had spread to the point where it was classified as being at stage four, which as anyone who has ever dealt with cancer knows, is not a good thing.

Things seemed pretty scary and, considering Mr. Hum’s family lost a close friend two years ago to the same disease, we were all very concerned with what was going to happen next. However, we were hopeful that, because of how strong and positive she is, she could recover.

It has been almost four months since I wrote that entry and I’m writing today because a recent trip to the oncologist revealed that my cousin, Tassy, responded positively to her first round of chemo.

In fact, the results of her most recent scan have shown that the tumour they were fighting has been significantly reduced in size to the point where it is almost immeasurable!

Anyway, I wanted to share the good news thus far, to thank all the readers who showed their support to my family during this difficult time and to give a big shout out to my superhero of a cousin as she continues treatment.

The fight may not be over yet, but if anyone can beat this thing, we know you can! Much love and many hugs, Wonder Woman! smiley1020

Hurray! I recently took part in a Relay for Life event supporting cancer survivors and those who have lost loved ones to the disease and it was very inspiring to see all of those awesome fighters… I hope her strength & courage will continue to grow until the cancer’s all gone!

praise God! =D very glad to hear this. pancreatic cancer is a very aggressive cancer so its great to hear she has responded well! (i’m an R.N. so i have worked with pancreatic CA patients before).

also, if you haven’t read this yet, i highly recommend this book: http://www.amazon.com/Last-Lecture-Randy-Pausch/dp/1401323251

this author/former professor gives his “last lecture” to his students/colleagues prior to resignation as he tells them about his life and his battle with pancreatic CA. i’m almost done with the book and its a very inspiring read! i think you may enjoy it. =)

That’s great news, Miss Hummingbird! I wish your cousin continued health and success with this horrendous disease. My mom passed away in Nov. after a surgery to remove her pancreatic cancer - it was devastating, and we continue to hold out hope for everyone else fighting this disease, that the drugs improve to help them in their fight. Thanks for sharing the good news.
