Dressing the Groom

May 23rd, 2008 @ 4:51 pm by Mrs. Lovebird

Considering it’s going to be around 90 degrees the day we get married, we knew from the start that Mr. Lovebird was going to get a light colored suit for the wedding.

This is what he ended up getting: Calvin Klein 3-Button Tan Seersucker Cotton Suit

The material is pretty light-weight and the color of the suit matches my dresses almost exactly! Here are some more close-ups.

At first, I was a little nervous about him buying his wedding outfit online, not knowing what the material felt or looked like in person, but I’m pretty glad we went this route. And the best part was that he took care of it all by himself! :::Good Little Mr. Lovebird:::: I love how I didn’t have to do anything but approve the link he sent me right before he made the purchase.

A few days later, he came home with a orange Geoffrey Beene tie with little light blue dots to go with our color scheme. I love this man! He’s going to wear the same shirt as the groomsmen and I’m not sure what they are doing about shoes and belts, but I’m leaving that to Mr. Lovebird.

Did your groom pick out his own outfit or did you do it yourself? What has your future spouse done in the planning process that has put a smile on your face?

yes. i refused to do little more than shake or nod my head…..so after a good bit of wandering around Mr. GM4L has narrowed it down to 2 tuxes and he will be making his finally decision in a few weeks.

after some gently coaxing, he seems to picking up the reigns on our mini-moon.

anytime i discover that he’s done a bit of independent research on anything wedding related….it makes me smile. ;)

My fiancee is awesome with wedding planning. He handled all our initial venue stuff — setting up the first meeting, walk thru, contract signing, etc. He has offered to call on anything I stress about and don’t want to do. I found the stephen geoffrey chocolate parisian tux (thanks to WB and the knot readers) and showed him. He has actually asked if he can pleeeease take over from there and do all the organizing of getting it and getting his GM to it. He is so helpful, i love it. Love him. :)

My top three that my FI is doing for me:
1. Handling all of the planning DIY/take-out-catering food for the rehearsal dinner and reception! (this is a huge one)
2. Printing the invitations
3. Initiating a specific conversation about the registry at least 3 or 4 times since we started to put one together a few days ago (I was shocked and so pleased!)

FI chose the tuxes. I put in advice or comments, but he made the final decisions. I think he expected me to make the tux choices, but I’d rather that he got something he liked. Besides, he has a good eye.

He’s been there whenever I need him. The biggie was arranging the band completely solo. He also just measured our ballroom, since the event planner REFUSED to give me dimensions. He’s been a great pinch hitter; not always there, but always comes through!

I really like that look where the groom and bride are wearing the same colour - there’s something very modern about it.

My fiancé is wearing a suit he already owns, hopefully with the waistcoat that comes with it, if it’s still available. (One of our friends is looking into that.)
