We Can Get Married!!!

May 23rd, 2008 @ 11:50 am by Mrs. Toucan

Well… in 3 days (we’ll wait until our actual wedding day though). ;)

Mr. Toucan and I have finally applied for our marriage license! And of course, I brought my camera to make a huge production out of it. :)

My handsome Mr. Toucan on the steps of the Town Clerk’s building.
He looks all excited, doesn’t he? :)

Where’s the Town Clerk’s Office?

After I took this shot, Mr. Toucan exclaimed,
“Did you just take a picture of me walking down the stairs?!?!”
“Um… No! Who would do that?!” ;)

Then, I made Mr. Toucan stand under the sign that points to the Town Clerk’s office.
By the smile he’s giving me in this picture…
he’s saying, “ok. Last picture. No more hamball Mr. Toucan.”

We finally got to the Town Clerk’s office, and luckily for Mr. Toucan the lady there wouldn’t let me take a picture of him filling out our forms. :P She made him nervous I think. She told us that it was IMPERATIVE that we take our time filling out the forms, and we were allowed NO MISTAKES, or else we’d need a new form. No crossing out, nothing - the form had to be perfect. Yikes! Talk about pressure!!!! Guess how many times we had to get a new form??

Two. Hehehe. We messed up twice - once because Mr. Toucan spelled his last name wrong, and once because I spelled my daddy’s first name wrong. hehe. I guess we were both a little nervous!

Anyway, after filling out the forms and reciting the oath together, we walked out of the Town Clerk’s Office $35 poorer empty-handed. Poo. I totally thought that would be more exciting! In 3 days, I can go pick up the actual marriage license sans Mr. Toucan.

Was there anything in your wedding planning experience that has been much less exciting than you thought it would be?

Hey, we went to the same town clerk to get our marriage license! I must agree that it was quite anticlimactic. Fill out a few forms, with a less than enthused clerk lady in the basement filled w/ tons of files, and we were done.

We had to go back after our first attempt to get our marriage license because our church put “Becky” on our certificate that we completed premarital counseling (yay for $70 off the license fee!) instead of “Rebecca.” I was so disappointed. We went back the next week, and then had to wait 5 days to pick up the license. It was still anti-climactic though. Oh well.

I’ve totally been to that office for something else. Ugh. I can just hear the woman with the abrasive-yet-endearing Boston accent. :-)
