Let’s Rewind…

May 28th, 2008 @ 12:51 pm by Mrs. Cherry Blossom

into some old projects that I want to share …

DIY details 019

Some of you have asked about the favor tags, so here goes. I created the template in Powerpoint by creating 1.5″ circles and spacing them evenly top to bottom and left to right, so that when I printed the backside of the circle, it’d line up exactly. A good trick to know if the circles on the two separate pages are lined up is if you are tabbing between page 1 (front side) and page 2 (back side), you don’t see the page blink or change much other than the text.

After you’ve printed both sides of the tag, what helped me punch out the circles perfectly was to cut the tags out into little strips. I cut them out as a rectangle, as close to the lines of the circle as possible with a strip to the side for handling, like so…

Wah lah - all punched out. The tools used to make this possible:

1) Fiskars 1/8″ Circle Punch which you can also purchase at Paper Source.
2) Round and Round punch this link is for a 2 inch punch

I got lazy and used the same template to create my tags for the chinese favors we used for our 2nd reception. We got double happiness candles that we packaged in organza bags (I had no say in the color choice of bag), and slapped on a tag for the tie and bam!

And for your convenience … you can download the power point template here!

 favor-tag-template.ppt

You’ll find 4 pages - two of the pages are for 1/5 inch circles, and the other two pages are for 2 inch circles. You can create the front of the tag on one sheet and then the back of the tag on the next sheet.

If you don’t like the circle border, be sure to use it as a template to center your logos, names, date, etc, then remove the circle prior to printing so that the front and back line up. I’d suggest changing the circle to a thinner line with a gray line so it gives you a template for where to cut the strips and punch out the circle.

Enjoy! Let me know if you have any questions!

@fashionablemd: download the template. it’ll open up to a powerpoint template. you’ll find 4 pages. 2 of each size. There’s 1.5 ” inch circles and there are 2 ” inch circle blank templates.

You can create a text box or insert a graphic into each circle. Example, you’d fill one page with just you and your fiance’s name and date. Then you’d fill the 2nd page with a logo, etc.

Print the first page first. Then refeed the same page to print the back side of the tag. Then follow the directions above for how to cut and punch out and you should be all set. Let me know if that is still confusing!

Good luck!
