You’re the Inspiration…

May 28th, 2008 @ 5:30 pm by Mrs. Coconut

Mr. Coconut and I have been engaged since March of 2007. Initially I thought to myself, wow we’ve got a ton of time to plan our wedding, this is awesome. Little did I know what a long engagement really meant: loss of social life, increasing stress, and LOTS of time to change yo damn mind. Oh yeah. No one told me how many times I, “Miss Decision Maker” would question and 50-guess my decisions!

The hardest part without a doubt was choosing our color scheme. I’ve been asked a ton of times, “What are your colors?” My reply, “ummm, I don’t have three colors, I have like 7.” Yes, I got strange looks. Eventually though (like this week), I’ve finally come up with some solid elements of our wedding.

This is the first element I KNEW had to be at our wedding. Lots of branches and romantic lighting from the ultra-fab knottie mrs.anayisnin (photo by Laura Novak):

The second element was long tables. They felt more intimate, easier to seat and I just loved the way they looked compared to round! (Image from Artfool)

When I stumbled upon the uber fabulous, mrs.pootiekins (aka Sarah K Chen), her planning bio had a ton of stuff that clicked with me. For one, the chocolate pintuck linens and chairs.

So, from there I made a couple of inspiration boards that still had something lacking for me. The first one was too bland for me!

The second was too Thanksgivingy for me, but I was getting closer!

So, you want to know what I came up with?!?!? Stay tuned…

I have drooled over that first picture for over a year now… I didn’t get to do the awesome gobos on the dancefloor =(

But I sent this pic to a bride I worked with, and we used this as the inspiration for her lighting! It looked absolutely amazing…

I totally feel your pain about the long engagement means too much time to think and rehash decisions! My wedding is in November and I am just now finally becoming a little more decisive in the direction I want to go! All your ideas are absolutely beautiful!

Color scheme has by far been the hardest part for me. It is such a good idea to do a few inspiration boards to help visualize what your wedding will look like. I change my mind every other week. Every grouping I like fits our personalities and I can see it working, but can’t make a decision. I hear you on the long engagement too, it does creep up on you!
