Framed Name Art

May 29th, 2008 @ 12:55 pm by Mrs. Flamingo

Always in search of great gift ideas, I came across Letter Your Legacy thanks to the Handcrafted Blog. I love photography and there is just something so special about it when it’s done in an interesting manner. Letter Your Legacy is a company that makes unique framed photographic word art.

I thought this was a great gift to give to newlyweds… not only does it highlight a new name, but what a great piece to put in your first home. You can even customize your name and choose what type of imagery you would like to have for each letter.

This is my example:

Even though here in Quebec we don’t change our names after we’re married (it actually costs us money to do so), I thought it would be a great piece to have for our future family. Maybe on top of our future fireplace.

Will you be doing something fun with your new name?

awesome! I did a project like this in Typography class back in the day. All of my letters were camping objects…

This is so cool, thanks for posting about it! We have two other weddings this Summer in addition to our own and I think this would be great.

Awesome! Too bad Mr. Spider’s last name is two letters. The minimum is four and there aren’t any choices for spaces or hyphens.

this is pretty cool!
Kinda sad that they wouldn’t make my (current) last name though… only 3 letters… No respect! :P

Ladies… you can have 2 or 3 lettered names and 10+ letters. Its just a custom order,… so you have to contact them directly! ;)

I did this for my fiance for Christmas, I used my own photos. Then, I bought a frame and ordered a custom mat online. All in all, I think I spent between $50-$75. It did take a lot of time trying to find the right letters in the photos, and I’m lucky enough to have hundreds of photos to search through, but it can be done, and is more meaningful I think.

I love this! Too bad for Canadians that they don’t ship outside the US :(

Those are awesome - thanks!! I’m really just commenting because it makes me so happy that it’s not tradition there to change your name. No stigma! I’m not changing my name, and in my profession no one blinks an eye at that, but I think some of my family and friends are a little bewildered.

I was thinking of doing it myself too Emily. We had a similar assignment in my photography class in college to make an alphabet book.

THANK YOU!!! I was actually in Hallmark the other day and they have this with different sayings. They are hundreds of dollars though. I would much rather have my future name in our house for less money. You have made my day with this site! Now the hard part is deciding which letters to choose!

I’m LOVIN’ this idea for my sister and BIL as a first anniversary gift — especially since they’ll likely be getting a new home around that time! Thanks, Flamingo!

@Miss Flamingo: Where have I been? I didn’t know you didn’t change your names in Canada… interesting.

My mom gave me something similar for Christmas a few years ago, but the letters were pictures of butterfly wings.
Great suggestion for a gift, I think I know what I’m getting FH’s BF for their wedding now.

@AliCherri1: I dont know if the rule applies across Canada, but I do know that in quebec, they really promote independance of yourself.

You can change your name but it costs something like 300$ plus all the fees for name changes.

Sweet website! The perfect custom gift for the “hard to shop for” types. I noticed that someone posted earlier that a 3 letter name couldn’t be done… I found out that they actually will do 3 letters and up to 9!

The black & white photography is so elegant.
For a unique wedding gift, would anyone know of an artist who can paint a commissioned painting? I want to give it as a gift…
