Goodies for the Bachelorette

May 29th, 2008 @ 5:55 pm by Miss Peacock

My bestest friend in the whole world (beside Mr. Peacock, of course) is getting married in June. She requested a girls’ weekend in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin - Miss Sundae’s wedding locale - for her bachelorette party and we couldn’t have been more happy to comply. Lake Geneva is an extremely cute little lakeside town just a few hours from Chicago. The big party was this past weekend and we had an amazing time. Once everyone shares their pictures with me, I will write a bigger post with all the details. Everything turned out perfectly and no one wanted to leave on Sunday morning!

My friend did not want anything crazy or any of the typical, kinda tacky but fun antics during the weekend. She did not want a veil covered in condoms or plastic models of the male anatomy. She did not want strippers or embarassing party games. She and I are on the same page there, so it was easy to agree. We wanted to make it special and different from just any other girls’ weekend, so we threw in a few surprises.

First off, the goody bags.

They were filled with candy, girly spa stuff, plastic accessories and lip smackers (the bride and I LOVED these in grade school). We even found little packs of “special candy” at Lover’s Lane on the way up to Wisconsin. Hers had a few extra goodies, including a little crown, a flashing shot glass, a big button with “I’m the Bride” on it and a pretty tame deck of truth or dare cards. I made the little stickers with my favorite new find- full sheet labels- and a big circle punch. I heat embossed the little engagement ring stamp with gold embossing powder.

We also made matching tank tops. The bride is notorious for her love of pink, so my trip to Old Navy was pretty. I designed an image for an iron-on transfer and made them at home. It was surprisingly easy and I was really happy with how they turned out.

Ok, I can’t help but wonder what you are holding for ransom, Cynthia. :)

Back to the topic…those are darling shirts!!! It’s a good thing I don’t know how to do iron-on stuff, because I would have put that on EVERYTHING. We would have had bags, shirts, pillowcases. I’m a dork!

pretty! how did you make the inside white? Did you print it out as grey? When I last made t-shirts, the white parts came out as transparent instead.

So adorable - I can’t wait to see more pictures! And I must say, having grown up near Milwaukee, I have learned to love the somewhat dismal landscape of strip malls and porn stores on that drive between Chicago and Milwaukee… I hope you stopped at Mars (Mar’s) Cheese Castle for some delicious curds! Yummmmm….

How funny! I used the same design template you used for the tanks to create bookplates for my bridesmaids. Gotta love istockphoto!

Too cute! Where did you find those crowns? They make me want to play dress up. Or, like, put them on my pets.

Thanks you guys! I am so glad that you liked them!

For everyone looking for the graphic, I bought it from istockphoto.com. Search for hand drawn frames and you should be able to find it- or something similar that you might like more! There are several in that particular file and you have to break the images apart.

I would do a how-to, but really I just created this image in Powerpoint (Photoshop would be better, but only Mr. P has a copy and he wasn’t home ;) by buying the frame image, copying the jpeg, pasting into Powerpoint and hovering a text box over it. Not very exact! I printed it on dark t-shirt transfer paper. I bought the iron on transfer paper at Jo-Anns. I bought June Tailor brand. I think the background is white instead of translucent because I bought the dark shirt transfer instead of the normal transfer. The heart just happened to perfectly match the shirt, its not a hole in the image.

If that still doesn’t make sense, I would be happy to do a real how-to!

The crowns and most of the goodies came out of the dollar bins at Target. I <3 Target!

Those tank tops are adorable! Were you able to find an iron-on transfer that doesn’t flake after a wash or two?

Hi, Question: I bought the same image from istockphoto, but it came with a couple of other frames. How did you copy and paste only the frame you wanted into powerpoint?

Thanks,
