Too often, the focus of wedding attire is solely on what the bride will wear and not the groom. Like the bride, I think the groom’s attire has equal weight in revealing the groom’s personality and setting the tone for the wedding. From a Hawaiian shirt and shorts at a beach wedding to a tux with a bowtie at a more formal wedding – anything is possible! Lately, Mr. Cookie and I have been discussing his wedding attire.
On one of our first dates, we went to this French restaurant in the Adams Morgan part of DC. I distinctly remember Mr. Cookie wearing this very handsome blue dress shirt, and as he was dapperly leaning back in his chair the image of Cary Grant flashed in my mind. The icon of the charismatic, debonair man — I can’t think of a better inspiration for Mr. Cookie’s attire than Cary Grant. Not that I think brides and grooms have to be matchy-matchy, but with my modern, old Hollywood look and Mr. Cookie’s homage to Cary Grant, I think the two are a perfect combination.

The best way to describe our overall wedding tone is rustic, elegance, which has the option of the groom’s attire being either semi-formal or formal. Therefore, Mr. Cookie has the option of a suit or tuxedo. I found these two images of Cary Grant above, one in a suit and one in a tux. Which one do you like best? Let’s take a vote? Suit? Tux?
I have no opinion on your question. I just want to thank you for letting me wake up and pop the laptop open to a picture of Cary.
