Toys for the Wedding: Part I

May 29th, 2008 @ 2:31 pm by Mrs. Lovebird

One of the main reasons we wanted to have a destination wedding was because we wanted an excuse to take a vacation with our friends and family.  As much as I’m looking forward to the actual wedding day, sometimes I get more excited over the fact that we get to hang out with our friends and family the days leading up to and after the wedding.  I can imagine us playing beach volleyball, kayaking, snorkeling, swimming with the dolphins and basically chilling on the beach.  I don’t want to miss a second of this and want to make sure I don’t forget these moments! So we bought these gadgets in the past few weeks to help us document this vacation of a lifetime.

It’s the Panasonic HDC-SD9 AVCHD 3CCD Flash Memory High Definition Camcorder with 10x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom. Yea….whatever all that means. Basically it’s a HD Camcorder with Image Stabilizers.

And Mr. Lovebird bought one of these:

That’s the Panasonic VW-BN1 AVCHD Archive and Playback DVD Burner for SD5, SD9 & HS9 Camcorders. Basically it’s supposed to burn DVDs of your footage right away without having to transfer it to a laptop. Just connect it directly to the camcorder via the USB port and it transfers the footage directly from the SD card to a DVD. I thought this was a little unnecessary considering I’m going to have my laptop in Cancun, but you can’t argue with the man when it comes to electronics.

Mr. Lovebird spent days researching these items, so if you are looking for a great deal on a quality camcorder for your wedding or honeymoon, it’s a safe bet. If it’s not the top of the line, it’ll be a close second and it’ll definitely be the most bang for your buck.

I don’t know what it is, but watching home videos always gets me teary-eyed. Maybe it’s because we tend to film the greatest moments in life where everything seems so carefree. Even if it’s just a video of my family member doing the most mundane thing, it just brings me back to the moment and makes me feel grateful I was able to share that with them. My little cousins are growing up so fast and I just wish there were some way they could stay young and innocent forever. In a way, I’m hoping these home videos do that. Many years from now, when I’m old and gray (hopefully I get to reach that point) I’ll be able to look back and relive these moments each time I pop in the DVD. It’s like having your very own time machine in a way! Hopefully DVDs won’t be ancient technology by then…

I’ve even more excited about my other wedding related technology purchase! Any guesses what it might be? I’ll let you know once I get my hands on that baby. It’s currently being shipped.

What expenses have you justified to be “wedding-related” even though they kinda aren’t? What new gadgets have you gotten just for the wedding?

Is your other purchase an Olympus SW camera, so you can take pictures underwater while you’re swimming with the fishies? They’re soo neat! I’m loving your camcorder, too…might have to put one of those on my must-have list :)

I got a new Canon G9 - for the honeymoon of course! Plus 3 new awesome bathingsuits and a new pair of hiking sandals… I guess the honeymoon more than the wedding is giving me reason to spend extra! ;-)

I have that Panasonic and I can never get over how awesome the quality is! It will be especially great for a destination wedding because the colors will pop right off the screen!
