I know I post about my mom a lot, but I really do think she is the best. She is just so creative and talented and generous– she is everything I aspire to be. She’s put her whole heart into adding special homemade touches to our wedding and I tear up when I think about being surrounded by little reminders of her love on my wedding day.
Her latest (and possibly greatest) DIY project is a guestbook for our mehndi. We’re having a polaroid guestbook for the wedding, but we wanted to do something a little whimsical for the mehndi, which is traditionally a more casual event. So my mom came up with a really creative idea, inspired by something she saw in the Stampin Up catalog.
First, she cut out tons of orange and yellow flowers using different hand punches(orange, yellow, and green are traditional mehndi colors). She layered cut-outs in different colors and patterns to create the lovely, sweet flowers below.
Then she added the flowers to a branch she plucked from our backyard and placed it in a lovely green jug and saucer she found.

Then she made little notecards adorned with vellum flowers that people could use to write advice. Each notecard was edged in gold by rubbing the edges along a gold inkpad.
Each notecard is housed in a seed packet she created using patterned paper and this label template (reduced at 70% to fit the packet). She added colorful paper flowers to the front of each label. Aren’t these darling!?!

People will sign the cards, put them back in the seed packet, and put it in a basket (not shown). The icing on the cake? The sign she created to accompany the guestbook (she created the mat herself to match the flowers). I love it!
After the mehndi, my mom will collect all the cards and put them in this album for me. She added the gold letter “M” and trim herself.

I think guests are going to get such a kick out of this and I can’t wait to see what everyone writes!
