Finally… the Shoes!

June 2nd, 2008 @ 3:03 pm by Mrs. Tiramisu

UPDATE!
Thanks for all the entries! The winner of the blue shoes is….

Commenter #39, laurag!

Looks like between all of us bees, we’ve now sold that website out of those blue shoes! If you’re still looking for some, there are tons of great suggestions in the comments of this post. Good luck!

~~~
I cannot thank you guys enough. When I first posted about my trouble finding blue shoes, I received a TON of comments with awesome suggestions. I checked out all of your suggestions, and I’ve finally chosen the one! Thank you, thank you, to weddingbee reader Kalen, who suggested these:
They are perfect, and here they are (even better in person):
Blue, peep-toe, not too high, and the bow detail even almost-matches the shoes my bridesmaids will be wearing. I’ve worn them around the house a little, and get this- they are even comfortable!
I did also purchase a pair of flat shoes to wear at the reception since it will be on a lawn and I don’t want to be sinking into the grass all night.
I’m not sure how to hem my dress though- for the taller shoes or the flat shoes? Did anyone else run into a problem with changing into flat shoes later on?
Thank you all once again for all of your blue shoe suggestions!
PS. I ordered the blue shoes in both an 8 and an 8.5 (because my feet are an annoying 8.25), and I’ve passed the deadline to return the 8.5s. Anybody want them?
Tiramisu, consider getting a chunky pair of white flip flops, like from Rocket Dog or Reef…no sinking, and no dress-dragging issues! (Though I have to say, the flatties you found are way cute.) :-)
shimmerplanet says:
I’d LOVE the 8.5s!!! :)
what brand of shoes are those? they’re amazing!
Tea says:
i already know that i’ll be doing the heels for the ceremony and then flats for the reception so i plan on hemming the dress for the flats [i’ll be doing a low heel so it won’t be too much of a difference]. that way, i wouldn’t have to worry about stepping on my dress plus my ceremony shoes will be seen. a definite plus since i plan on getting blue shoes as well.
meg says:
uggh, forget it! apparently i’ve forgotten how to click on links! :) sorry!
Please include me in the raffle! Those are really cute! I was going to go buy them, but there are only 6 & 7’s left!
13.
cookiechristina says:
They are adorable! Curse my average-height fiance! If I get them though, I’ll just make him wear heels too :D.
14.
Jen says:
I love those shoes! but your blog does’nt say where they are from. Where did you get them? I also love those cute flats. Where are they from?
15.
tipperella says:
I wore flat shoes for the ceremony and heels for the reception. We hemmed for the flat shoes. I think it made sense because I didn’t ruin the bottom of my dress. If the heels are too high though, it might look funny. Mine we just a couple inches.
16.
Yvonne says:
They are very cute and a great color!!! I would love to win them….
Do you want them to show underneath the dress? That would be a nice eye catcher.
17.
Sarah says:
please include me in the raffle too! Love them!
18.
Jaime says:
Maine knottie here- I posted over there, but figured I’d try here as well. Let me know about the 8.5’s! :)
19.
rzblna says:
Oooh, I am an 8.5! Please include me!
I would adjust the hem so that it doesn’t drag on the ground for your flats. It’s OK if your hem doesn’t completely cover your cute blue shoes!
Alternately, you might consider changing into a reception dress and avoid the hem dilemma altogether.
j says:
they’re adorable.. pls include me in the raffle! :)
ooo! please include me too - those shoes are fantastic!
SO in love with your blue shoes!!! Count me in for this mini-contest :) How generous of you…
24.
gji7 says:
Hem the dress to in between the heel heights - you don’t want it dragging and nobody is looking at the hem when you are walking down the aisle. Plus if it is just a tad short (1.5″ in this case) somebody might even get a glimpse of those awesome blue shoes. BUT - have the bustle figured out for the shorter shoe - otherwise people will step on it all night and it might actually pop the connectors. I was at a wedding last week where I had to sew and pin the brides dress (twice!) because she changed into shorter shoes and the bustle was dragging.
25.
gji7 says:
Also please include me in the raffle!
26.
Natakie16 says:
MrsF says:
I would LOVE the 8.5s!! I bought a short dress and have been dying for a great pair of blue shoes. This is actually the perfect color! Please Please Please let me win these!
33.
missbean says:
I agree with gji7 - hem it somewhere in between.
A question: Are you going to be dancing? (ie. ballroom dancing/taking more than micro steps forwards and back) For our dance instructor told me to hem it to the shortest length because it means that it is more difficult for anyone to step on your dress and it is easier to move around in. (The last thing you want is to be moving backwards, have your shoe catch on your dress and rip a hole or trip!)
Good luck deciding! Cute shoes by the way :)
Brandi Kenyon says:
Hello!!! What beautiful shoes to serve as my something blue. Just so happens my colors are tiffany blue and brown. Fantastic taste I must say. This is one time when I hope I am lucky for having my fathers sized feet. And here I thought I was always cursed with the big feet syndrome but nope my size 8.5 will due just nicely for these.
I say that you hem the dress in between the two heel sizes. This way you won’t be able to notice to much of a difference with either pair of shoes. This or go out and reward yourself with a second dress to wear at the reception with your to die for cute bow flats. Enter me in. Please, please, please!!!
Mrs. Tulip says:
Wow, I’m not much for shoes but I *love* those — great choice!! They’ll look so gorgeous on the big day.
As far as length, I’d suggest going with the shorter gown length (the “flats” length). That way, there’s less chance of tripping on your gown. And, as long as you have such great shoes, you might as well let them peek out at the bottom of your dress!
39.
laurag says:
Miss Tiramisu, I’ve been avidly following your shoe posts because I’m looking for the exact same thing…AND I’m an 8.5! I’d love to win, that’s so sweet of you to raffle them off!
Please enter me in the raffle! I love them!
45.
missm says:
So fabulous! For the hem, go for the short heel length - you’ll be at the reception longer than the ceremony and the potential for tripping in the low shoes is greater if the dress is slightly long in those shoes.
For the ceremony, it will be a special treat for people to see the shoes if they aren’t completely distracted by your radiant smile. Besides, if your dress has a bustle, they’d only be able to see the shoes from the front, as your dress would be down for the ceremony and thus longer in the back.
46.
Marlene says:
I love the blue shoes and I don’t have anything blue yet. Please enter me!
i wish you were a six and a half! i LOVE them
I’ve been shoe hunting for a few weeks now. These are exactly what I’m looking for and lucky me, I’m an 8.5. Please enter me! Thanks!
49.
bethgraced says:
oooh, please enter me, too!
I think you should hem it in between the two sizes so it doesn’t look oddly short.
50.
NearlyMsSubrosa says:
Very cute… I’d have it hemmed with the flats so it doesn’t drag on the floor *and* shoes off your cute blue shoes :)
51.
Barb says:
Anybody want them, says the bride?
I happen to know a SMOB who wears a size 8.5. and intends to sink into the grass during the entire reception in order to wear her cute metallic strappy heeled sandals at her beautiful stepdaughter’s wedding!
Doesn’t that qualify me for the extra pair ?? :)
52.
jnicholea/thatbride says:
Those heels are adorable! I can’t believe that someone hasn’t realized that there is a little bit of a market for blue heels. I think if there was a greater range of availability more brides would get them for their something blue!
53.
trish says:
Am I too late to possibly get the shoes? Have you picked a winner yet?
54.
Heather says:
Roses are Red and your shoes are BLUE.
I wish I could win and be lucky like you.
Thank u for you consideration
Have a lovely day
