Monumental Pictures

June 3rd, 2008 @ 2:25 pm by Mrs. Flamingo

I received an email from our photographer a month and a half ago asking for a detailed list of our wedding day events - from the time he needs to be at my place for my bridal pics to the locations where we want to have our first married couple pictures taken.

Because our photography is situated in the downtown core of Montreal and I live in the suburbs (about 35 minutes away), I don’t expect them to know the perfect spots for these shots. I originally wanted to find an abandoned house, you know with broken windows and ripped curtains, but I wasn’t able to find that. So I kept on looking. Well even living around the area, the task was not easy. After over a month of searching, I finally found a great spot.

In the town where we will be having our reception, there are many beautiful parks and great spots near the water… but having a vintage theme, I thought the Manoir Globensky would be the perfect place to go.

An 1890 house, this monument is not only authentic but all the detailing is absolutely stunning and I can only imagine what type of photos our photographer will take. There are beautiful trees and flowers all around this building, so hopefully we won’t need to go any place else.

Did you choose your ‘photo spots’ ? Did you opt for something original?

Oooo, great post! FI and I are doing pics before (I know, I know, but we’ll have a nice, climactic reveal) in a private garden area (TBD) in Philly, and then after-ceremony pics in more whimsical locations around the city. I totally want to make a “must visit” list, and WISH it were as easy as one location — yours, Flamingo, is beautiful! :-)

We did some of our engagement pictures by an old dilapidated barn. Some of my friends (and my parents, I’m sure) think it was a really weird choice, but I think places like that are really beautiful and are great backdrops for photos. I love that you ended up with something that’s totally the opposite of an abandoned house! :-D It’s beautiful, and you won’t have to worry about getting arrested for trespassing. :-)

Most of our photos will be in a park, which isn’t so novel, but our wedding is above an Irish pub. I’m trying to convince FI that it would be fun to take photos of us at the bar! (It’s a really nice, wood bar… not some dive).

So lovely… our photographer is familiar with the venue, so we’re leaving it up to her. One of the wedding shoots she sent to us to preview when we were interviewing photographers was actually at our venue - the shots were so amazing I didn’t even recognize it! Not that the venue is bad - it’s an art and garden center - but it was shot so artfully it seemed so exotic/interesting. We are doing getting ready pics at FILs house nearby, which will also be lovely. Every time we visit, we’re scoping photo ops! :)
