Can I please start out by saying that I am so excited to be a Bee?!
I’ve been a Weddingbee reader for quite some time now. In fact, I’ve been through two application processes - thus proving that it’s best to “try, try again.” I absolutely love blogging - especially writing about weddings and have been doing so from the day after Mr. Pomegranate proposed to me over 9 months ago. Since that fateful day, I haven’t stopped!
Now that I’ve been given the opportunity to join the hive and be Miss Pomegranate, I’m stoked! Growing up, we had a pomegranate bush that grew the cutest, most adorable, mini pomegranates ever. They weren’t the tastiest, but in revisiting my small, sweet, friend again when sampling Pom’s juice blends, both Mr. Pomegranate and I became fans once again. Plus, they’re high in antioxidants!
To introduce Mr. Pomegranate and I - we met via a popular online social networking website almost three years ago. However, there were multiple instances in our lives where we totally could have met sooner! I like to think of it as kismet that we met when we did. Otherwise, love probably wouldn’t have sparked between us - rather fizzled out due to bad timing.
For instance, both Mr. Pom and I are ex-employees of Barnes and Noble Bookstores. What we didn’t discover until our third or fourth date, was that we were both ex-employees of the very same store. Even more coincidentally, Mr. Pomegranate left one month prior to my first day of work at our store. I was his replacement! Crazy, no?
Another example of these odd parallel lives we led surfaced a few weeks later. We had attended several parties hosted by Mr. Pomegranate’s group of friends - and after the third time we ran into my brother and his wife at one of these shindigs, we decided that it was more than chance. Even though Mr. Pom and I had randomly met online, he somehow shared friends with my brother!
While we very well could have run into each other in person several years earlier, it would never have worked, as both of us would have been in other relationships. Not to take for granted our destiny to be together, we’ve been enjoying each other’s company ever since. When we’re not working at our geeky software jobs, we’re walking our silver Labrador named Sterling, curling up with a good book and our teacup panther named Sebastian (actually, a big black house cat), or catching up on our favorite cult TV shows via iTunes.
While I’ve been doing most of the wedding planning, Mr. Pomegranate has been taking an active role in several different areas. Namely, the design and implementation of our custom wedding website and the editing of music for our ceremony and reception. Hopefully, you’ll see posts from both of us as our modern outdoor winery wedding plans progress.
Thank you so much for welcoming me to the hive!
I work at BN right now! It’s good to know there’s life beyond the bookfloor - right now it eludes me, but hopefully that will change
And welcome! Can’t wait to see what you’ve got planned for your wedding!
