Thing For Rings (Kinda)

June 5th, 2008 @ 12:45 pm by Mrs. Toucan

Ever since I saw this:

I wanted one just like it. And finally, Mommy Toucan and I have combined forces to actually make one just like Martha!

The “ring pillow” actually doesn’t holds rings very well, but that’s okay the Toucan ring pillow is just for show. No way I’m letting a six-year old be in charge of our wedding rings! That job will be given to the best man.

Who is in charge of keeping your wedding rings? Are you letting the ring bearer take it down the aisle?

oooo I love it! We aren’t going to have a ring bearer and I don’t think I could convince Mr. Pineapple’s best man to carry one :)

I saw that same ring pillow with instructions in the fall Martha Stewart Wedding magazine…and I thought it was not possible to make one so pretty…but now I am reconsidering since yours turned out so lovely!

We our ring bearer take them down the aisle. I just sewed them in without tying any knots so they would stay until pulled off by the Best Man and Maid of Honor. It worked great, and I got my wish not to use plastic rings.

We had our little ring bearer take the real deal down the aisle- he is 7 and our wedding was the 4th or 5th time for him pulling ring bearer duties, so hes practically a professional! :)

When the officiant asked who has these rings our ring bearer said ” I do” and he handed them to the best man to hold until it was time.
It worked out great

The ring pillow is beautiful. Perhaps you could sew a ribbon into the center of the flower to tie the rings to?

My nephew (four at the time of the wedding) is too smart of a guy for us not have let him take down the real things. He would have immediatley known that his job was really pretty pointless if it was just for the fake rings, so we tied them on really well with the ties (his dad was a great boyscout!) and he sat in the front row next to his dad and grandpa during the ceremony (his mom was my matron of honor). Then when it came time for the rings, he came up to the front, and we pulled them off the knots. Worked really well. He only had the pillow in his possession from the moment he was about to walk down the aisle till they were on our fingers.

I love the color of your flower. I really enjoy the vibrant colors. I too, fell in love with this ring pillow instantly but I don’t have a ring bearer. So, I decided to make these flowers to tie my OOT canvas bags and a small little one for each menu. Making them takes some time, but they make me soooo happy.

Love it!! I purchased the materials to make the very same pillow a few weeks ago. :) Yesterday I glanced back at the instructions and was a bit confused. It makes it sound like you use the same sized petals for each layer depending on the project you intend to use it for. Did you use the same sized petals or make them smaller with each layer??

@myonlysunshine: I ended up having to make them a little smaller just for the top layers. I originally made them all with the same size petals, but it didn’t look right, so I trimmed the top ones a little.
