Before I get any farther into the story of my Super Wedding Weekend last month, I want to take a moment to say thank you to my readers for all the welcome words of encouragement and advice.
(I’m not sure whether to love or hate those sparkly MySpace thingies!)
In particular, I want to say thanks to Angel, a Seattle area wedding and event coordinator. She read my post about collecting mason jars for flowers and candles and offered to give me some jars she’d found while cleaning out her garage. In her original comment she said she had 27(!!) but it turned out she found more than 40(!!) in all shapes and sizes.
We met at a Barnes & Noble cafe off the highway and about halfway between her place and mine to do the “handoff.” (Here I have to chuckle, because I did feel like I was staging some sort of covert-ops pickup.) After a coffee and a handshake, the jars went from her trunk to mine and home with me, where they are resting comfortably in the garage.
Here’s a preview of all the jars (hers + mine) and their purpose…
Small jars for table-top candles (I still need more of these!):

Medium jars for hanging from shepherd’s hooks with flowers/candles:
Larger and extra-large jars for table centerpieces:
What an assortment! I actually just broke the extra-large jar with the blue lid (sigh) but it was one I’d purchased at a flea market and I’m pretty sure it can be replaced. Some of my jars are precious, vintage blue glass masons with porcelain lids, others are simple honey jars with the labels peeled off. I’m really looking forward to seeing what these look like with the flowers in them, perhaps also adorned with a bit of twine or ribbon. And candles, perhaps seated on river rocks… hmmm… I’m getting ahead of myself.
I want to thank you again, Angel. We’ll put your jars good, nay, excellent use.
And you, dear readers, my thanks for your continued encouragement. Please share your stories of blog friendship and support!
