Boy do WE have a lot of catching up to do!
I’ve been planning our wedding for almost 9 months now and only have 4 months to spare. Fortunately, I’ve been a bit of a procrastinator with my Do-It-Yourself projects and will have a lot to share with you in the proceeding months. Let’s talk color scheme, okay?
When I first discussed colors with Mr. Pomegranate - I’ll admit it was the day after the proposal - I had thought that a bright modern wedding would be a blast! My first color palette included a nice black and white damask* paired with a persimmon orange and a subdued lime. I wasn’t able to find my original inspiration photos from 9 months ago, but the wedding below captures the complementary color scheme idea quite nicely (they added raspberry as well).

However, Mr. Pom was not thrilled with the idea of the orange accents - no matter how much I told him I loved Fire Calla Lillies. So we nixed the orange and I began my search for inspiration on green, black and white weddings. The very first wedding I fell in love with was from the Bio of knottie PDXDFWbride. She had the most incredible details, from her ribbon bedecked cookie bar to her green polka dot pointy flats (I told ya’ll I’m a shoe girl).

After this, I went CRAZY searching for all things green, black and white. I apologize, as this Idea Board was created well before I thought I’d have an audience, so unfortunately I don’t have links for everything below. Most images are from The Knot, some from that infamous Jennifer Skog Bridal Shower and of course, the aforementioned knottie, PDXDFWbride.

Knowing how trendy the hot new modern damask would be, I though I’d add a second pattern to our palette, a nice French Stripe. I wanted to keep it classic and modern with touches of the rustic winery throughout. Here’s our final palette, accented with our final green shade choice, Paper Source’s Moss.

I’ve loved following Miss Sundae’s wedding plans, as we are both green, black and white damask brides, but I know that ultimately we will have two very different weddings. This is something that is SO interesting to me: that two brides with the same exact colors can have amazingly different weddings. I guess it’s true when they say that no two brides are alike!
*Initially I had the HARDEST time correctly pronouncing the word, “damask.” Mamita Pom (I call my mom Mamita) has since helped turned my dam-ASK to DAMN-ask, by repeatedly saying “dammit, damask” every time I’d say it wrong. Thanks Mamita Pom!
