Our First Registry Gift

June 9th, 2008 @ 11:50 am by Miss Pineapple

This wedding planning program will be temporarily interrupted to bring you the first gift off of the Pineapple’s registry…

A few weeks ago, I posted about the Pineapple Dream Registry and number one on the list was a puppy. I have wanted a puppy for years, but with three cats it always seemed a little crazy to add a dog to the mix. Well, love won over logic and Saturday Mr. Pineapple and I drove 4 hours to Bowling Green, Ohio to pick up our new puppy, Rooney!

Ok, maybe I am biased, but is he not the cutest puppy you have ever seen? We got him from a rescue. His mom is a mini schnauzer and his dad is a yorkie-poo. So, that makes him a Shorkie-Poo or a Schmutt for short.

We are amazed at how good he has been. We thought with such a young pup we would have a lot of work to do. But he is already crate and house trained at 9 weeks. He sleeps through the night, and even the cats are warming up to him.

Now all we need to complete our dream registry is a tulip farm, a fancy camera, brake rotors, season tickets, and cooking classes with Alton Brown… but I don’t think that will be happening. Which is a-ok because we have A PUPPY!!!!

Congratulations! Getting a dog 2 years ago was the best thing I could have done to make me happy. One thing I regret when my dog was a puppy was taking more pictures because they grow up so fast!

O.M.G! Rooney is so adorable! I agree with deanna, take lots of photos. Also, take video footage. We wish we had done that of our dogs when they were pups. Yay for rescues, that’s how we got Abby and Henry :)

He’s adorable! And I’m usually much more of a cat person than a dog person :-) In that first picture he seems to be saying “Whatchu lookin’ at?”

OMG cutest little puppy ever. Congratulations to you and to Rooney!! Keep us updated on the inter-species relationships; my fiance and i are possibly maybe thinking about one day getting a dog, but the two cats haven’t been won over yet :-) Congrats again — he is just precious!

The absolute BEST wedding gift ever! Dogs are the greatest gifts God gave to mankind. Seriously, they bring so much joy & love to us. We lost our schnoodle shelter rescue a week ago to cancer (we had him for 4 short wonderful years) and are about to welcome a new rescue dog into our family this week. Thank you for giving a rescue dog a home- he will repay you back for it with love & kisses tenfold. :)

Aww! He’s precious!! We’re debating right now whether or not to get a puppy!! I want one so bad, but with full time jobs, planning a wedding (which is another full time job) and 2 kitties, isn’t it too much?! Apparently not!

LeahB says:

And Darlene, I am so sorry about your puppy. That is so sad, but I’m glad you’re getting a new one :-)

thanks everyone for the sweet comments, I’ll make sure to share them with rooney ;)

i will definitely take a million photos of him, I have 80 so far…

The cats are doing pretty well. The alpha cat - Onyx was letting Rooney walk on him this morning without even moving. Harrison the youngest cat, keeps going up to Rooney to investigate then running backward when Rooney chases him. Zazu the scaredy cat is, well scared.

Welcome to your schweet schmutt! (And the fact that he’s already housetrained is an EXTRA gift.) Hopefully he and the cats will get to the point where they’re best buds — watching cats and dogs play together is a hoot and a half….

Angie says:

Oh my goodness! Rooney is so CUTE!!! I want to steal him!

Melissa B. says:

Awwww, he’s a darling! I’m so jealous. My FI’s one and only major flaw is that he’s allergic to dogs, so I have to live vicariously through other peoples’ puppy pics!

What a handsome little guy!

And I’ll add my praise to those up thread for choosing a rescue dog. All three of my pets come from the SPCA and they are THE most wonderful creatures. I think that rescue pets always know that you saved them and it makes the bond between you even stronger. :)

Rooney is adorable! I got my puppy a few months ago, and still trying to manage my wedding planning while training him. It’s tiring, but I am happy! AND YES, really need to take a heck lot of picture of your addition, they just grow too fast! Although my friends reminded me, I still don’t feel like I took enough picture of my Sam Sam!!

Dani says:

Yay to you guys or adopting a shelter dog and DOUBLE YAY for what I think is a Steelers reference (am I right?!) The dog’s even black and gold!
