About Mrs. Tiramisu

I had my hair trial last week. It was just so-so and I’m looking into other options at the moment, including totally changing how I thought I wanted to wear my hair. The one thing I do know for sure is that I have always wanted to wear a flower in my hair on my wedding day. I thought about a real flower, but I’m just too much of a planner to not know exactly what it would look like until it arrived on the day of the wedding. Fake is the way to go for me- no wilting, no brown edges, and control freaks like me can know just what they’re getting ahead of time!

There are so many gorgeous hair accessories out there that it was tough to choose one. After searching through a lot of Etsy shops, I found my favorites at Mikiye Creations.

Here are some of the top contenders:

If I were a little more daring, or if I were having a different style wedding, I might have chosen one of these:

But I wanted to keep it a little more traditional with something very simple and realistic, and so after some great advice from a few Bee TV chatters during Miss Hummingbird’s latest broadcast, I ordered #3.

It just arrived:
It looks -and feels- so real!

Just like all of my other Etsy purchasing experiences so far, this one was great. Mikiye was easy to work with and quick to respond. The flower I wanted was actually sold out, and she let me know as soon as she had more in her store and even reserved one for me until I was ready to purchase it.

I haven’t decided if I’m going to wear the flower all day (under my veil during the ceremony) or if I should put it on later only when I take off the veil. Any advice? And what will you be wearing in your hair- veil? flower? something else?

Wow, Mikiye’s work is stunning! I just convo’ed her over on Etsy to see about ordering something (thanks to you). I’m not sure if my short hair could support something like this, but suddenly I really want feathers and a flower in my hair!

Wow- truly stunning. I have a question… is the flower handmade too? If so, it makes it that much more impressive (if that could be possible). Gorgeous!

Beautiful! I’m planning on wearing one in my hair at just the reception; I thought it might be too much in combination with my veil. I’ve found some more affordable options on Etsy but have been hesitant to purchase since I don’t know if they will be as nice as the ones by Mikiye. Are there any other ones you were considering, Miss Tiramisu?

I have always envisioned a flower in my hair too. I was going to go real but I’m starting to think a fake one sounds more secure. I’ve been looking at the Etsy shop Twigs and Honey but this seller looks awesome too. Does it feel secure in your hair?

I wanted a flower just like that for my wedding. It was so hard to tell the quality from pictures. Some were up to $150 but I wasn’t willing to pay that if I wasn’t sure it wouldn’t be awesome. I ended up buying one on eBay and it sucked, so then I bought a pretty crystal hair pin at a store. If you didn’t already have a pretty hair flower I would send you some links to some pretty flowers (much better than the eBay one).

Thanks to all!

@Miss Gingerbread: Oooh yay- let me know if you end up getting one! Good luck!

@Clarita: Thanks so much for sharing those! Looks like a gorgeous wedding!

@Kimmy: Most of Mikiye’s options were considerably less expensive than T & H, which was a huge factor for me. It has a really secure metal clip on the back- I actually had a little trouble getting it back out of my hair.

@laurag: I looked a t a lot on etsy- here are two I can remember- http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5270569

miss tiramisu, i was JUST looking at that exact one last night!

I love it! The quality looks great, are the petals made out of a soft silk? or is it a more typical silk flower (that is a bit rougher and stiffer)?

Miss Tiramisu says:

@l3r0wnEyedGurL: It’s a soft silk that almost feels like a real petal when you touch it. (Do I sound like an advertisement or what? Sorry!)

I also ordered a flower from Mikiye a few weeks ago and I absolutely love mine: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=11699776
My dress is ivory and this flower has both white and ivory petals along with a vintage gold and rhinestone center. I’m incorporating bronze/goldish accents into my wedding attire so I loved having the antiqued gold center.
I’m not wearing a veil at all, but instead wearing just my flower for the entire wedding!

I have been apprehensive about buying a flower for my hair, too, especially since I bought one from Mikiye and it turned out not what I expected, so I think I’m going to opt for a Twigs and Honey flower from myrakim.etsy.com

Clarita - are you selling your hair flower? Miss Tiramisu - is the color creamy (my dress is antique ivory - almost like champagne) - so I wanted to make sure it wasn’t white.

Thank you for this great post. I’ve contacted Mikiye in the hopes of getting the exact same one you did. Thanks for the inspiration.
