For the Girls…

June 13th, 2008 @ 6:23 pm by Mrs. Hydrangea

Since I’m pretty sure none of my bridesmaids read WB, I wanted to share with you my first gift to them. I knew from the start that I wanted to give them some sort of a bag. My original thought was to create a tote with my Hydrangea logo and put “Bridesmaid Hydrangea” on each one. I still think this would have been cute, but then I saw these:

When I originally saw them, they only came in white and in the large, laundry bag, size. They were out of stock, but I emailed them to see when they would be available again. India Rose told me that they would let me know when they were back in stock and, sure enough, a month and a half later I received an email.

When I got them in the mail they were super cute, way larger then I had imagined, but nonetheless great for the girls. Today, when I went to their site, I saw that they now have them in smaller sizes AND in colors. If I could go back, I’d probably buy the smaller size and get the Grass tote, but that’s in hindsight. Either way I think that my girls will love them and be able to use them to take dry cleaning, go on weekend trips, etc.

Another, less expensive, tote that I recently found at La Garconne was this:

I’m a sucker for anything black and white, and for $20 I thought these were perfectly feminine for bridesmaids and, if you’re marrying in 2008, a way to always remember that year. According to their site, “Belle Ingenue, a classic French term refers to the beautiful girl-of-the-moment: possessing an innocent air; the original in literature and film.”

There will be some goodies inside the bags, but I’ll post on those later. Did and of you give your girls bags?

Love those bags, especially since they come in a smaller size! A little pricey though :(

OMG - when I first looked at the top photo, I thought they were the most unflattering dresses EVER! I’m such a dork!

But as bag - oh, so cute! Practical AND fun. Your BMs will love them!

Erin–I’m with you! I totally thought they were really ugly dresses! But as bags, very cute, and they’ll probably use them a lot more after the wedding than if they said “Bridesmaid” on them. Nice find!

So cute! I’m also in love with these really creative and colorful totes (also come in a clutch size) from VivaTerra.com - they look like designer bags, and the best thing is that they’re made of recycled candy wrappers, so they’re environmentaly friendly too! I bought the clutch for my MOH and I’m so tempted to keep it for myself ;) Here’s the link if anyone wants to check them out, they also have some creative totes made out of recylced billboards (not sure how they do it, but it looks nice!)

Yup! I scoured ebay for Roototes. These cute totes I found when I was in Hong Kong. I bought each one a different one based on what I thought they would like and then filled it with goodies. A shawl, flip flops, foot petals, emergency kit in a cute little make up bag (candy, nail file, tylenol, tide stain wipes, band aids, hair tie, safety pins), lotions and creams from bath and body works, necklaces for the dresses, and a personalized gift for each one of them. They were a big hit and the girls actually used the bags during the day since we had to go from the hotel to the ceremony/reception site!

I decided to go with reusable bags and went with Baggu bags. They can use them for groceries or whatever they’d like after the wedding and can use them to hold their clothes and other stuff after they change into their BM dresses. http://www.baggubags.com

I am giving the BM’s mud pie’s tote bags. they say Bridemaid, Bride, Mother of the Bride, Flower girl, or Maid of honor on the front. Many places sell them for 19.99 but I found a seller on ebay that was willing to give a discount since I was buying 4. They are reversible for use after the wedding and the colors of chocolate and light pink are great!

Someone above mentioned that they got Baggu bags for their bm’s. If you want to go the reuseable bag route, there are several other really cute ones that I would suggest!
My first love, Flip & Tumble: http://www.flipandtumble.com/
They’re really cute and fold up in a ball about the size of a peach. $12 each.

My second love, Envirosax:
http://envirosax.com/
These come in a million colors and designs so you’re probably going to easily be able to find one to suite each bm. $8 each or even cheaper in bundles of 5!

My third love, RuMe (Stands for ReUseMe!):

http://www.delight.com/RuMe-Bags-Reusable-Totes-Silicon-Valley
The first link is the colored ones and the second are black and white. These are in a set. But they hold the most…up to 50 lbs where the others are about 25 lbs. And a set of 3 is $28.50.

Just thought I’d pass along my reusable bag knowledge. I love reusable bags and think anyone else would love to have them as a gift! Even if you don’t use them for groceries, there are so many other needs!
