You have until 10pm EST this Sunday to enter. Good luck — and Happy Friday the 13th and Happy Father’s Day! ![]()
We’re getting married on 08-08-08 - which is considered the luckiest number in Chinese culture.
we’re going to sew my mom’s lucky rabbit’s foot into the lining of my dress!
definitely the something old, new, borrowed, and blue… and a bow from the dress my grandmother wore to my parent’s wedding sew into the inside of my dress!
We’re getting married on 08-16-08 and we’re told its lucky to get married during a full moon.
I will be wearing my lucky underwear.
…… UNDER my Spanx, of course ![]()
We picked the date 12-11-10 because it was cute- I guess that we can stretch that to say it might be lucky hehe ![]()
We are using double happiness symbols all over the place and red is one of our main colours. Plus our wedding date is 08.31.08 (double 8’s)!
old, new, borrowed, blue - and I didn’t see my husband until we signed our ketubah right before the ceremony
We had a Chinese fortune teller pick an auspicious date (and time) for our ceremony based on the birthday and times of me, my FI, my parents and my future-in-laws… this was to ensure that after we are married, that everyone gets long well. ![]()
We are getting married on 09/19/09. 9’s were always my lucky number!
I am not walking down the aisle for the rehearsal dinner, not seeing the groom before the wedding, old, new borrowed, blue, and anything else I can do! I love traditions, so I think it’s more for following them than luck, but I’ll definitely take the luck too!
We’re doing the old, new, borrowed, blue–
the sixpence in my shoe–worn by my mom and her two sisters in their weddings
lighting our unity candle off of our parents’ unity candles from their weddings.
11-08-08 - we’re not chinese, but we’ll take any luck the double 08’s might bring!
I’ll have a penny in my shoe, and something from my grandmother. But, my best luck was finding my fiance!
I’m getting married on my best friend and MOH’s birthday. Having her is enough luck for me!
@Jenn: that’s my birthday! of course its lucky! hehe. Congrats. =p
My superstition is about Pearls. I found out that pearls are the tears of the ocean. So wearing pearls on your wedding signifies heartache and tears throught out the marriage. So that means no pearls for me. =p
my grandfather passed away several years ago and my grandmother just over a year ago. she left us their wedding bands, which are exactly the style we wanted, plus have so much more meaning. they were married over 60 years and if you saw them in public together they acted like teenagers who just fell in love. they were so perfect for each other, and we are so honored to have their wedding bands and wear them for at least 60 years and hopefully more. ![]()
We’re getting married on the 18th - which is the Jewish symbol for luck (and multiples thereof - 18, 36, etc.). And my fiance is Irish - so we’re mixing in a lot of green to the colors (white and yellow), very light and bright. I’m going to buy him clover cufflinks for his wedding present (shh! don’t tell him!) and I’m going to put a clover (still looking for one) on my bouquet.
red is my lucky color… so i’ll be wearing red soled shoes on my wedding day.
i’m having a bracelet with a horseshoe charm made by a jeweler on etsy
something old, new, borrowed and blue and not seeing the groom before the wedding
2 and 6 are my lucky numbers, so we chose 8/22/09, the closest we could get in the month we want. I was feeling a little unlucky about it until my mother told me that not only is 22 the number shes worn in soccer, but it has been a magically lucky number for her her whole life! And because shes toasting our wedding, I have faith it means our relationship has a fighting chance ![]()
I’ll be doing the something old, new, borrowed, and blue.
The typical borrowed and blue, sixpence etc.
He definitely cannot peak at me or the dress pre-wedding….
To sound crazy - I only like even numbers so we made sure to pick all even days….06/28/2008
I am doing a penny in my shoe like Grace Kelly and the something old, something blue…
We’re getting married on 9/13/08 and it’s a great day according to the chinese horoscope!
also getting married on 9/13/08! It’s a lucky day according to the chinese horoscope! ![]()
I’m planning on incorporating a few Chinese traditions into the wedding. Such as the umbrella over the bride so the evil spirits can’t see her, touching oranges for luck and using a red carpet (again against evil spirits).
My fiancé is from Ireland, so we’re incorporating bells into the wedding. Irish traditions says bells ward off evil spirits that may be lucking to trip up the newlyweds.
Definitely am doing the “something old something new, something borrowed something blue”, and we are going to stick with the groom not seeing me until the wedding ceremony as well.
i’m sure i’m going to work a four leaf clover hidden somewhere. ![]()
The good old, tried and true, something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue… and bride and groom cannot see each other unitl the ceremony!
Nothing special at our wedding, though I love Miss Pineapple’s response.
I don’t usually pay much attention to the “Friday 13th” hype, but maybe I should — DC had a massive power outage this morning, and the whole city has been a mess!!
1k paper cranes all around the room. Some big huge ones for decoration hanging from the ceiling, some ceramic ones for the placecard holders, etc!
I must already have luck on my side because I am marrying the most amazing man!
OH, I actually booked June 13th on purpose because it’s my lucky number
and it turned out better than I thought b/c even when venues were booked for months the 13th was free because no one else wanted it .
The classic not seeing or even talking to my groom on the day of the wedding… which will be so hard since we have to wait till 5pm.
I love learning about luck. It’s a fascinating study, and I have books on the topic. Luck is learned behavior.
I’m attaching a photo of my grandfather (deceased) with my mother on her wedding day to my bouquet along with two copper 4-leaf clover charms. My family is Irish so we’re big on the superstitions!
something old, blue, borrowed, and new. plus, i will be bringing my lucky rosary with me.
We are not seeing each other till the ceremony and I can’t wait for the doors to open!
Obviously the traditional things like: not seeing each other that day until i walk down the aisle, something old, new, borrowed and blue. I am going to tie something that belonged to my grandparents onto my bouquet(because they are the greatest love story I have ever heard or seen!) and incorporating horseshoes because they are lucky, Our flower choices are going to be centered around their specific meaning as to bringing joy and happiness into our marriage.
I have a custom made dress tag with our monogram, date and a 4 leaf clover being sewn into the lining of my gown. I’m Irish!
We met line dancing. When the hall closed down the owners gave us the horseshoe that hung over the front door. We remain wonderful friends with the two of them, and many others we met in our time there, so we consider it a lucky charm for us. Horseshoes everywhere!
I am wearing my great-grandmother’s cathedral length Belgium lace veil that is over 100 years old (my ggm got married in 1905.) The veil has been worn by 4 generations on my mom’s side of the family. My great-grandmother, grandmother and my mom have all worn the veil had have had long happy marriages (no divorces!) I hope the luck of veil rubs off on me as I am looking forward to a long happy marriage to man I madly and deeply in love with!
Just the traditional something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue!
Our good luck is the full moon. Our first date was the night of a full moon, he proposed on my birthday (a full moon), and the night of our wedding, we will be dancing outside under the full moon!
unsure, but i need all the luck i can get (the good kind instead of the usual bad)
So far, just getting married on the half-hour (while that miute hand in on the upswing.)
We presently live together and will be spending an entire week apart (well, just not sleeping in the same apartment) before the wedding.
i’m wearing a necklace that is a very old family heirloom that almost every bride in fiance’s family wore…it brought them luck, so… ![]()
Our date is my parent’s anniversary, and they have had a long marriage so hopefully we will as well! ![]()
We’re actually going kind of against the grain and having our wedding on the 13th! That being said, my fiance was born on the 13th so we think its lucky for us.
I am unusually superstitious but for some reason I don’t feel like I need luck for the wedding. We will be seeing each other before it and everything. I don’t think we’ll need luck to sustain our marriage. Just lots of love and hard work.
luck is one of the themes of our wedding–we’re having our reception near lots of casinos! not sure yet what my something new, blue, and borrowed will be . . . but my something old is a hanky of my grandpa’s. he passed away this year and i want to have something of his with me at our wedding.
We will uphold many of the luck traditions, (ie new, blue, borrowed & old, penny in the shoe, etc.) but we are also getting married on a 9. We met on the 29th, had our first date on th9th, got engaged on the 9th and we are getting married on 9-19-09. Luck has everything o do with it. We wanted to get married in the fall/late summer and it had to be after labor day but not too late for an outdoor wedding in new England, so we settled on the third weekend in Sept. which happened to be the 19th. And, again, luckily my baby sister is happy to share her 25th birthday with our wedding day.
My fiance and I flew to Egypt the day after he asked me to marry him, and our time there has had a significant impact on our worldview as a couple. My “something blue” is a scarab bead given to me by a merchant in Aswan ![]()
we are doing the something old, new, borrowed and blue.
Never save left over cake! Long story but I believe it’s true!
old, new, borrowed, blue and then we may not stay together the night before the wedding.. but we will take pics before the wedding on the day. Our wedding date is 05-09-09 which sounded like a lucky date to me and it’s Mother’s Day Weekend (mom loves the idea!)

We are doing a lot of the traditional wedding superstitions. Something old, new, borrowed, and blue. Plus a sixpense in the shoe. and not seeing the groom on the wedding day
