Engaging Photos

June 18th, 2008 @ 9:24 am by Mrs. Jasmine

I’m going to backtrack a little while I wait for our professional pictures to come back…

In May, Mr. Jasmine and I met our valima photographer, Laurie Tennent, in Millenium Park. My mother-in-law wanted to create a photo guestbook for the valima and she asked us to take some engagement photos with Laurie. We met Laurie in the park on a *ridiculously* cold day for May. I was all bundled up in a black coat which I threw off to take pics and would throw back on between shots. I felt very much like a ANTM contestant :)

I’ve featured some of my favorite shots below. Laurie was such a joy to work with and I think she really captured our personalities. I would definitely recommend her to any Michigan area brides looking for a photographer!

You look so happy, and almost surprised, like someone’s telling jokes during the shoot. I worry I’ll look to contrived or have an I’ve-been-smiling-too-long look on my face during e-pics. Any advice?

Those are great shots! Did you take any fun ones with the bean? :-)

Beautiful! I especially love your expressions. And what great Chicago photos! (We took our engagement shots on a tour of Wrigley.) The Lurie Garden is my favorite part of Millennium Park and it’s a stunning background for your pictures.

By the way, I have to applaud you for taking off your coat to show off your cute outfit despite the weather! We took our photos on a chilly, rainy April day, and I didn’t even consider removing my coat. Now I wish I had at least removed my scarf for a few pics, but it was cold! On the bright side, we got some fun umbrella photos. :)

You don’t look cold. Very pretty. I especially like the one with the city in the background.

@MagPie518: I felt SO silly during the shoot. I’m never comfortable having my picture taken in the first place and I felt especially awkward in Millenium Park where a lot of people ended up watching our shoot. So I ended up laughing a lot out of nervousness. I worried that the pics would end up looking ridiculous because I couldn’t stop laughing, but I actually just look happy :) So I wouldn’t worry– it takes a little time to get used to the camera, but the right photographer should help you feel comfortable. And it’s good practice “modeling” before your big day!

@psu01: We did! I should have posted one, but I didn’t want to OD you guys on Miss Jasmine pics :)

@mhb: Ahh, thank you! That put a huge smile on my face :)

@jfs: I’m obsessed with Kerastase! Their deep conditioner is the best. Although I should divulge that my hair usually never looks like that and I had it professionally blown out that day :)
