I love the pictural vibrancy of achastain’s second wedding!

I am getting married at the same place as “Simply Me”! So exciting to see more photos!

I love the mansion where SimplyMe got married but its original owners built it with money they made from the slave trade and, even though it is run by a nonprofit organization now, I just don’t know if I can do it. A company I used to work at some time ago used to have holiday parties there (I just thought it was an old mansion back then) and it really is gorgeous. A descendent of the owners made a documentary about her family’s past called “Traces of the Trade: A Story from the Deep North” that will air on POV on PBS on June 24. It’s kind of like the issue about diamonds that the other Knottie featured, achastain, brings up. How much blood was shed for your diamond? Well, how much blood was shed for your venue? It’s a tough call. Nice bios, though.

I understand what you’re saying, Jasmine, but I think this is slightly different than a diamond. That diamond was (most likely) recently mined with the intention of bringing it to market to sell to an individual. The venue, on the other hand, ceased receiving slave trade money generations ago. Is it really fair to penalize the current owners for the sins of past deed-holders?

I am interested to see the “Deep North” video. My hometown in Maine prospered from building ships used in the slave trade. One of those dirty little secrets that no one mentions.

I love looking at these bios, but cannot figure out where to go to see more of them? I assume on theknot site, but where? Can someone help!?

Where are some newer bios? I have noticed alot of older bios in knottie bios of the week. Certainly there must be some from 2008 that make the grade. In the recap section on the knot boards there are several new beautiful bios.
