I Joined the Etsy Bandwagon!

June 19th, 2008 @ 8:26 am by Mrs. Cookie

When I joined the hive, I was not only introduced to the wonders of Gocco but to the fabulous world of Etsy. Now, I have joined the Etsy bandwagon! I have an imaginary jewelry collection of Etsy pieces that I drool over, and would bankrupt me if I bought them all! Excuse me if you are an Etsy aficionado, but for those of you who don’t know, Etsy is a fabulous online community to buy and sell everything handmade and it is a fantastic place to purchase unique wedding accessories or gifts at affordable prices.

Mr. Cookie and I are starting our bridesmaids and groomsmen gift search. We both want to show our appreciation by presenting them with a nice, reasonably priced token of our affection. So, I turned to my good friend Etsy for ideas. I typed in “blue, wedding” in the search field, and below are just a handful of what I found. Although not all bridesmaids and groomsmen gifts, I thought I might share some of my favorite finds.

From left to right 1. Brass Paper Clip, 2. Cyberoptix TieLab, 3. Lizbee Jewelry, 4. stacysdesigns88 5. Laurie’s Shop 6. Field and Sea 7. OriginalsByLynnette 8. Jennifer Rydin Designs 9. Sarah Ridley Letterpress 10. Dear Emma 11. MarlaJDesigns 12. Amrita Design

Yes! I did a search for local (Indianapolis, IN) Etsy artists and found some cute gifts for my bridesmaids. I bought these colorful digital prints from makeshiftmodern’s shop, which I will frame. I also found some fun makeup bags from tmStudioDesigns. I love Etsy and it’s the first place I look when buying gifts for any occasion. I also feel good because I’m supporting local artists.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE etsy! I’ve gotten some absolutely beautiful things for our wedding from some amazing vendors. Every single one of them was extremely prompt in responding to questions. Here are a few that I used: kymjewelry for bridal and bridesmaid jewelry, psalm117 for my flower girl’s pomander, paperhill for the ring bearer pillow, fubabee for customized table numbers, and happydaystudio for a customized wedding card for my groom’s gift :0) I would highly recommend all of them!

I decided that rather than getting everyone the same necklace and some of them never wearing it again, I’m getting everyone a diferent necklace that I know they’ll each love. One is getting a brass pendant with flowers engraved on it, another a sparkly swarovski crystal pendant, another a brushed metal pendant. they all have such different tastes and I think this will bring soem of their personalities into my wedding as well!

What HAVEN’T I gotten from etsy for the wedding? I also have my own shop there and have done some bridesmaid jewelry as of late, it’s so much fun and a great way to get into having your own business if anyone is considering it.

Another great feature to try out is Alchemy on etsy. You simply state what you’re looking for “ceramic bowl for mom” or “brass jewelry for bm’s”, and then different sellers place bids on your request. It’s a lot of fun and helpful to find the perfect item.

I used myboyscustomcards to make customized note cards for all my bridesmaids, Holly was an absolute dream to work with and she even sent me my own set of cards with the order:) I highly recommend her. I also got a beautiful Card Box for my guest book table from craftedbycarolyn. Etsy vendors have been some of the easiest to work with during my planning. I LOVE etsy!

I got my bridesmaids personalised notecards from Etsy, and we ordered the invitations for our rehearsal dinner there too. I’ve been so impressed by the quality of the stationary we’ve purchased from sellers on Etsy. Gor-ge-ous!

Me too! I love etsy,
I got our “ring pillow” which was actually a knitted cupcake, stationary for bridesmaid, purse for flower girl, gift for groom- a water color of our wedding site, and wedding cake shaped salt and pepper shakers, and a whole mess of bath products.

Im an Etsy girl too! Ive been on there for 2.5 years and LOVE looove love it.
Im planning my wedidng and its so exciting to know that I can use handmade elements, but not have to do every project myself.
Im getting a flower headband from my sisters shop http://superduper.etsy.com and my sister monique is making my wedding ring from scratch htttp://gurlygirl.etsy.com
I personally make real butterfly wing jewelry and have a LOT of brides making orders for the girls and themsleves, because you can get a lot of colors in different styles. Its funny though, Im excited to buy NEW jewelry for myself thats handmade.

I just found out from someone who just purchased some of my hair pieces that I was featured here. Thanks so much! I absolutely love etsy, and am so disappointed that it wasn’t around when I got married. But, it’s great for anniversaries, birthdays, just about anything. I love being able to have my work take part in someone’s wedding. It’s a huge honor!

I came across Etsy when I was looking for art inspiration for my wedding invitation. I swear I spent all weekend with computer in lap pouring over all the cool things. We ended up copying an art piece for our invitation. We’ll be buying an original copy from the artist to hang at home so we’ll always remember.
