About Mrs. Cherry Blossom

We just celebrated our one month weddedblissaversary!

The hubs and I have been really busy with work, catching up with friends, and moving between both family households, that we’re still living out of hampers surrounded by appliance boxes. I really wanted to do something special just to mark this little milestone by cooking dinner. I’ll take any reason to do a little something sweet for the hubs. So to mark our one month, I fired up the stove and fed him.

Prepping the goodness …

And the results …

Balsamic Roasted Asparagus

And Shrimp Scampi …

Yum-to-the-friggin-OH if I do say so myself.

Totally unrelated, but …. I LOVE your table centrepiece! Where did you get the tree branches? Are they a leftover from your wedding? Too cute!

The food looks delicious, but I am just so jealous with the luxury of cooking dinner being something SPECIAL for your anniversary. My husband has NO IDEA how spoiled he that he now expects me to cook dinner totally from scratch for him every stinking night. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I like to cook, but I work 80+ hours/week and it’s exhausting, and I can’t imagine putting dinner on the table and him thinking it was special and sweet and worthy of a one-month anniversary treat. You are SO LUCKY, Mrs. CB!!!

My FI and I are planning on celebrating every month…a little miniversary. We’re going to eat off the good china, even if the meal is only takeout. It started out as a way to convince him that yes, we should register for the china that I love and yes we’ll use it all the time. But now I like the idea even more for sentimental reasons.

Happy 1 month!

This is a spectacular idea! I think it is so important to make a big deal over small occasions, and make them into special occasions. It allows your partner to see how much you truly value your relationship, despite everyday mundanities taking much of your attention.

I totally forgot to mention! What we are doing for our one month anniversary is eating a piece of cake each month. We have a HUGE gigantic top layer of cake — WAY more than we could eat in one sitting. So, we cut it into 12 giant slices (really, it was a huge top layer), and every month on the 25th we eat a piece as a way to celebrate the month-iversary for the first year. It’s a fun way to celebrate! The only downside is that so far, my husband will be on call on our month-iversary for the first three months. Boo. Oh well, more cake for me! Ha!

Ok…so I need to know how you made the bacon wrapped scallops please. :)

Erin says:

Mmm… good-lookin’ spread!

FI and I both LOVE to cook, so we frequently have hold dinner dates in. We can put together a meal better than you can get in most restaurants, plus we have the fun of preparing it together. The only bummer is doing the dishes at the end of a big date! ;)

@MayGrad: I’m glad you liked. To be honest, I totally winged it. What you need (or I got) …. Lean Bacon, toothpicks, scallops, salt and pepper and honey.

Heat oven to 350, wrap half slice or enough to go around scallops, skewer with toothpick to secure. Lay on baking sheet of foil, put salt and pepper over all the scallops. Place in over, about 5 - 7 mins or so, flip over and cook another 5 minutes til done. Take it out of oven and brush honey over scallops. (time of cooking depends on the size of your scallops, so play by ear and wash it.)

good luck, hope you enjoy.

Congratulations on your first month! Your dinner looks fabulous - especially the scallops! Are they easy to make?

Continue to celebrate to keep things spicy - it really works!
